I am writing because of the service or lack thereof, I received while visiting the Stockton location this afternoon. My husband purchased fundraiser tickets from a coworker as part of a youth fundraiser. The tickets stated they were good for ribs, chicken, potato salad for the Stockton location between 12 pm and 8 pm. We arrived at 11:55 am and got in line with our 3 tickets, our three additional guests who were purchasing food directly from the business and our 1 year old daughter. A lady asked who was there for the fundraiser, collected the tickets from the 15 to 20 people in line, and told us to take a seat. Ten to 15 minutes later they came back out with a list and the tickets. They made their rounds through the tables asking who had tickets and how many. When they got to us, they said our ticket was for dinner not for lunch. How this was determined is still somewhat of a mystery to me. She said the organizer told her who was for lunch and who was for dinner. When we purchased our tickets, we were not told it had to be for one or the other and if so, for which one. I explained this to the person telling us that they could not accept the tickets. To be honest, I have no idea if the tickets she thought were ours, were in fact ours. She collected in the neighborhood of 20 tickets at the same time, then came back 15 minutes later. How do I or how did she know those three specific ones were even ours? I don't even know which ones were ours! We had now been at the business for nearly thirty minutes. I asked to speak with a manager. Her response (complete with very inappropriate and rude smirk) was you're looking at the owner. Ok... and...? I have NEVER received service like this at a business I am spending money at. I am amazed at how rude the lady was to me and the other 6 people in my lunch group. Part of our party were out of town guests. Even with the explanation that our entire party had come from out of town, and that there were three tickets and the remaining people were purchasing food - NO EXCEPTION was or could be made. I work at a local private university. Myself and my coworkers frequently eat out and occasionally eat at the Stockton Kinders location. I frequently recommend people to this business. I can say with 100% confidence I no longer will either visit or recommend your place of business. BBQ is my husband’s type of food, and although we live out of town, we make the trip to this Stockton establishment to get his fix. Today we were forced to forfeit the $45 we spent on tickets for our lunch because we are unable to come after 4 pm as instructed by the very rude and manner –less owner. I am still shocked that no apologies were made and that I felt shooed from the business. The way she spoke to us was uncalled for. I was very calm and polite to her even after receiving quite the opposite treatment from her. In fact, due to the manner in which she spoke to us, our daughter (16 mth old) balled her eyes out. It is very rare for her to have such a reaction to someone. We did head across the street to Centrale. We enjoyed a delicious (as always) lunch and incredible service. Quality of service is just as important as quality of food. I was just called by an acquaintance who was in the restaurant at the time, and witnessed the interaction between myself and the “owner”. He said he was appalled by how we were treated. He also had a fundraiser ticket he bought off a neighbor. He got his food and left and said he has zero plans of returning to the business. I hope future customers are treated better. I also hope training is given to this owner on how to run a franchise business, communicate with respect, and most important – be polite.
