My wife and I bought two cords of "seasoned" wood from Favreau Forestry and paid seasoned wood prices. As first time customers we were asked to pay cash, which we did, $580.00. We were under the impression that "seasoned wood" meant dry, ready-to-burn wood. Wrong! What "seasoned" means to this company is wood that has lain in log form for a year, then split a week or two before delivery. Consequently, the wood we purchased was wet and definitely NOT ready to burn. The wood hisses, emits steam, is difficult to set afire and, as semi-green wood, creates excessive creosote.

When I called and spoke with the owner, Brian, and suggested that the wood was not, in fact, seasoned wood, he disagreed with me, though he admitted it wasn't "dry." I find this somewhat, though not overtly, deceiving. I told him that we deliberately purchased "seasoned" wood because we intended to burn it right away. He said that he did not "deliberately" mislead us and that he would come and retrieve the wood and give us our money back - except that I'd already stacked and stored it all in our cellar and woodshed so that solution was untenable. Would he refund us the difference of the cost of seasoned vs unseasoned wood? No. "Just wait a few weeks" he told me.

So ... if you intend to buy wood from this company, be VERY clear on what you're buying. If you're expecting dry, seasoned wood, you may be disappointed.

There are two things positive that I can say about these guys. The driver who delivered the wood was amazing and managed to back a very large truck into a very tight spot, exactly where we wanted it. And, the "two cords" were definitely two cords, we weren't shortchanged in quantity.

Given how this all played out, however, we will not buy wood from this outfit again.

A diamond in the rough! Dan arrived at our house greeted us, informed us of the plan, asked if we had questions and went right to work. The employees all worked like a well oiled machine. Upon completion of the tree removal he asked if the job was done to our satisfaction and thanked us for the business. It is the small things that I have learned to value in life. Not only did they do a fabulous job but had great customer service.

Favreau forestry's crew came to our yard to assist in the pruning of ice storm ravaged trees and subsequent debris removal. They were fast, efficient, and polite, all thing qualities you would want in someone who's come to provide a service at your home. Brian gave an accurate estimate and stuck to it. We gladly recommend this company and will surely have them back when we need them!!!
