Unfortunately,  I cannot rate this dentist on his proficiency in the dental arts, however I can rate his office as a whole.

This dentist is a Cigna in-network dentist accepting new patients for the last two months as seen on the Cigna website.  In the first week of August I changed my dentist to Dr Camhi with a rep of Cigna, unfortunately the change would not take effect until September 1st.

I called the office and advised them I wanted to make an appointment for my children for sometime after September 1st since that is when I will be one of their in-network patients with Cigna. Dr Camhi's receptionist said she could not make an appointment until September 1st.  Something to do with the Cigna roster they receive each month with current patients.  I said I understand and I can assure you we have switched to your office and you can call Cigna and verify.  For whatever reason (possibly to know they were going to be paid before making an appointment?), she would not make an appointment until September 1st.

I called Dr. Camhi's office again on September 2nd.  I informed the receptionist of the conversation I had with their office in early August.  Could not make an appointment again because she said she didn't receive the new roster from Cigna yet and I should call at the end of the week.  I agree, but cannot believe there is no way to electronically verify eligibility. So, a month passes and still can't make an appointment to see Dr Camhi.

September 14th:  I called Dr Camhi's office figuring I gave them almost 2 weeks to procure the elusive Cigna roster, they should have received it by now.  No. No. No.  The receptionist said she would call me back.  Apparently her phone call went to the same dimension where the Cigna roster is hiding out.

September 15th: I called Dr Camhi's office again and tell the receptionist I was never even given the courtesy of a call back and have been trying to make an appointment with this dentist for the last month and a half and my children need to be seen by a dentist.  The receptionist touts something again about not having the mysterious Cigna roster and even when she gets the roster, it would be a "long time" to get an available appointment and I have the right to go to another dentist if I wasnt.  Next thing she heard was a dial tone.

September 16th: called Cigna and changed to another dentist.  I am writing this review to let Dr Camhi know that he just lost a family of six of patients due to his office staff's extreme laziness and rudeness.  If this dentist does not care about new patients he should tell Cigna that he is not currently accepting new patients.  But he will not do that because, how these HMOs work, he receives a payment from Cigna every month whether he sees the patient or not, so by accepting new patients and not even seeing them he receives payment.  I have six people on this plan and for the month of September this dentist has received some type of payment from Cigna for my family without doing anything for it...without even doing so much as making an appointment.  So to sum up the offices of Dr camhi? Yep, it seems like $$ is all they care about.

I definitely will follow up with  a formal written complaint with Cigna.

Dr. Camhi, his associate and staff are all wonderful. It is a very friendly environment. My family loves going to the office because Dr. Camhi and staff make it fun.

THIS IS THE WORST DENTIST ON S...

THIS IS THE WORST DENTIST ON STATEN ISLAND!!!! My son who is 24 years old was in a lot of pain and he went to this dentist on an emergency visit, they took xrays and while he was seated in the chair the dentist and nurse were all laughing at his teeth and saying some real embarrassing things to him, the dentist walked out of the exam room and then the nurse came back in and said you can leave now.... there's nothing we can do for you, this was said because he had medicaid as his dental coverage, this dentist was on his provider list and he refused to help him because he would not make enough money, my son was so upset, , I called the office, the receptionist put me on hold for 15 minutes then finally came back on and said there's nothing we can do for him, she was so nasty, I asked to speak with the dentist and he would not get on the phone, my son had a bad infection and Dr. Camhi didn't have the decency to at least give him an antibiotic, all this dentist wants is money, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DENTIST TO ANYONE!!!!!!
