First County Bank began as Stamford Savings Bank in September 1851 with assets totaling five dollars. The bank has since grown to 12 branches located in Stamford, Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk and Westport, Conn. First County s deposited assets now total more than $150 million. First County Bank handles both personal and business banking including checking/savings accounts, lines of credit, trusts, investments and online banking services. The firm also offers a line of loans and mortgage services. In 2001, the firm established the First County Bank Foundation to distribute grants on a yearly basis to benefit nonprofit organizations in the Stamford area.
