This restaurant has been a fixture for Spencer and the surrounding communities for many years. My family has frequented it for many years during our annual vacation in McCormick's Creek State Park (approximately six miles away). The venue is relaxed and Owen County-friendly.

Upon arrival, you order your meat entree (ham, steak, chicken, or pot roast), then wait briefly for your table to be set up. The Hilltop has a large dining room with flexibility to seat any size party together, usually at long tables.

Salads, vegetables, rolls, and great orange marmalade are served family-style along with your meat entree (vegetable plates are also available. You can also request a glass of tomato juice to enjoy with your salad.

Prices are very reasonable and service is always friendly. Further, the owner seems to always be on site to ensure a quality experience and often visits with us.

One last thing, save time to walk out on the Hilltop's front porch. The restaurant is located on the top of a hill (thus, the name) and the vista in all directions is breathtaking.

We returned to Hilltop after seeing at ad in our local paper about the new owners and improvements. Sorry folks not much has changed, rolls might be pretty good but are served cold, Very stingy with their sides, marmelade etc. we had a table of 6 and got one small bowl of each vegetable. and yes they will bring more but you should at least have enough to go around the table once without feeling like you can only take a tiny spoonful. Not impressed with the new ownership.

This is my absolutely favorite place to eat I will defiantly pick this place over any of the other big name places. This is great t food, great people, great environment and a great view. Outstanding workers- always nice and they always interact with my small child- which is always a plus for mothers to see. Great place for family or just a night out alone. This should be your first choice for the weekend dinner! Also make a day of it a State Park is not far away at all McCormicks Creek (less than 20 min)or Liber State Parks(close to 30 min) are both close enough to eat then play or visa versa. There is also a Drive In theatre minutes away! You and your family should make it a date... at the Hill Top.

Nice Family restaurant with great atomosphere and great food.

This is the best restaurant in Owen County. Although you have the map and location wrong. It is located 3 miles north of Spencer, IN on 231 and 67. Also, the website if for a different Hilltop Restaurant.
