Dr. Troum went to college at Emory University in Atlanta, GA and graduated with a B.S. degree in biology. He attended medical school at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. From there, Dr. Troum completed a residency in general surgery at Mercer University in Macon, GA and then returned to Wake Forest for an orthopedic fellowship in hand & upper extremity surgery. He is Board Certified in Surgery of the Hand by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Troum is also an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Dr. Troum has been in private practice in the Dallas/Ft Worth area since 2000. He also remains active academically as an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of North Texas. He has published many journal articles and book chapters on topics including arthroscopy, vascular disease, hand infections, replantation, tumors, and various subjects in general surgery. He is a consulting reviewer for the Journal of Hand Surgery and has lectured widely on various topics both locally and nationally. Dr. Troum has appeared as a medical expert in the media including the Wall Street Journal, radio talk shows, and featured on “Top Docs of DFW”, and received an honorary commission as Surgeon General of Texas in April 2004.
