dont work here

Bob Bryant is the owner of daybreak, daybreak and other distribution centers deliver your local news tribune and seattle times newspapers. So heres how it goes. The news tribune and seattle times, new york times, ect..have contracts with various distribution centers and then those distribution centers have contracts with couriers (average people like me and you and those just looking for a job). So here you are wanting a job so badly you sign however many contracts for however many routes they start you with, you are responsible for the delivery of x amount of newspapers by 6am and 7 on weekends. You pay gas and any damage or wear that happens on your route to your vehicle. You are not an employee you are a subcontractor because you signed the route contracts. The common rate is 11 cents per 1 newspaper delivery on a weekeday (go ahead and calculate how many a day it would take you to survive in america). And since people expect their newspaper at 6am, daybreak distribution and other centers allow you to arrive around 11 or 12 pm if you like, in the contract the truck that brings all the papers so people can start work is supposed to arrive by 2am leaving a 4 hour window to get your shit and get out and deliver. In my sad 5 years of newspaper delivery the truck has shown up amply late (3-5am) with no thought of a contract time of 2am. So if the papers show up at damn near 4am most carriers will be late. Most customers will call and file a complaint. That complaint per customer cost the carrier 2-3$ a complaint. The ratio of 11cents per delivery and 2-3$ a conplaint will kill someones paycheck. Just food for thought.

This service is awful. If you miss a paper they say to call before 10AM. Does not work! Their answering machine message states they have new employees and you may not receive your paper on time or not at all. They even say they will return your calls. NO WAY.
