About Rebecca Tarwacki An important lesson Rebecca Tarwacki learned on her path to becoming a family nurse practitioner is that each patient is unique and the care she provides must reflect that. Her approach to practicing medicine is to strive to do her best as a provider. “I always knew I wanted a career where I could help others. A career in nursing, and now as a nurse practitioner, has allowed me the unique opportunity to make an impact on others’ lives,” she says. When she began her profession as a nurse in the ICU at Memorial, after graduating with her nursing degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, the providers she worked with constantly impressed her in how they cared for patients and how they interacted with the other providers in the system. “This is what drew me to this particular specialty, to be a part of this team,” she says. In working with patients who have a variety of lung conditions, Rebecca has learned there is value in finding joy in the little moments and that kindness goes a long way. Rebecca hopes her patients find her to be a good listener and understand that she truly wants to help them be their best.
