I grew up in New Orleans eating Lawrence's Bakery's king cake, but have lived out of LA for years now. When I was in town during Mardi Gras season, my cousin served 2 differenr flavors of king cakes from Marguerite's, Strawberry and Cinnamon. I couldn't decide which so had a small piece of each and they actually surpassed my memories of Lawrence's which was a big thing! They were fantastic! Might need to see if I can order online this season!

This place in Slidell is horrible. DO NOT BUY CAKE FROM HERE. Worse wedding cake ever. Over prices, rude service and right out pathetic. My wife walked out crying and when we complained they said we were lying and the cake was beautiful. I would rather but a Walmart cake.

I recently ordered a cake for my wedding reception from Marguerite’s Cakes in Slidell. I was very disappointed in the appearance of my $250 cake! The following is a list of the multiple issues with my cake:



1. The bows on the cake were not even and the ribbon appeared wavy around the base of the cakes

2. The scrolling work on the bottom looked rushed and poorly done. There are gaps where the lines didn't come together and parts that look more like splatters than scrolling.

3. The color chosen for the decoration frosting was supposed to be a reddish-maroon. What I received appeared more brown than maroon.

4. The top was supposed to have small dots along with the fleur de lis in order to fill in the top a little.

5. The fleur de lis are misshapen and unevenly spread across the top. The comments I received in regards to the fleur de lis where, "What are those blobs on your cake?" and "Those look like naked stick men.".

I was told that I could return the cake and get a full refund; but that meant I had no cake for my wedding reception! It wasn't feasible to have the cake fixed as your bakery is in Slidell and my reception was in Lafitte. A point I specifically told the woman taking the order and why I stressed to have the cake ready as early as possible. I left Marguerite’s Cakes in tears knowing my only option for a wedding cake was to take what I could get!



No bride should have to shed tears over a wedding cake that cost $250! I expected more care and better workmanship for the amount that I paid for my wedding cake. I find myself extremely disappointed in Marguerite’s Cakes in Slidell!

I have traveled to alot of places and even to the Bahama's, where i have tasted all types of deserts. I call myself a expert of good deserts. Yet to come home and be introduced to Margurites Cakes, to find they bring you to a place of unimaginable pleasure. So if any one is looking for a great presentation to any function try Margurites and it will put your party at the top of all your friends conversation list.

Have had 2 cakes from them recently and they were both the best - fresh, flavorful and beautifully decorated. Don't know what previous respondent was speaking about - this bakery is a class act.

Lightest cakes ever with fillings of fresh fruits.

NOT ONLY WAS MY CAKE DECORATED WITH THE WRONG COLORS, THEY CHARGED ME A TOTALLY DIFFERENT PRICE FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD ON THE PHONE AND DID NOT EVEN APOLOGIZE FOR ANY OF THIS. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE I KNOW.

Noted for the ZULU King Cake, Excellant Petit Fours...try the wedding cake flavor( a hint of almond)
