I was referred to Kitsap HVAC by another local shop I had worked with before but was unavailable in my time of need. My high-efficiecy furnace was shutting off intermittently. On the initial visit he cleared the condensate lines and ducts with a shop vac, both of which had aleady been done, along with a promise to return, if my problem was not resolved. That does not even constitute a maintenance call where you would expect the flame sensor and burners to be inspected and cleaned and ignitor tested. Not suprisingly, my problem was not resolved. The next 2 visits and interim telephone support consisted of a lot of head scratching and fishing around for visibly obvious problems. Realizing I was fairly capable he made several suggestions for me to carry out, up to and including removal and reinstallation of the inducer motor suspecting a vacuum leak, which only risked ruining a perfectly good seal and potentially creating a vacuum leak, if not done carefully. I finally purchased a manometer to test the outlet manifold pressure myself since he, for some reason, did not do this at my urging. As a result, I discovered the low stage manifold outlet gas pressure was incorrectly set for natural gas rather than propane. That is a big difference in gas pressure. My furnace is now running consistently. There is no excuse for a HVAC professional to not own and know how to use a manometer and a combustion analyzer.
