rudest service I have ever been exposed too. I get it. its 11:00 at night, its the dog days of summer. You have drunks every 5 minutes staggering up with the munchies. But that still doesnt excuse ignorance. And I am not one of those drunks. I am a hard working musician that has been playing on the island for 15 yrs. I had just finished my gig, was starving, wanted two slices, a coke, and my bed. I walked up to window, gave my order, was thrust two pieces of cold cardboard, told a price and then was met with an impatient sigh when I was trying to do HIM a favor and give him exact money. Without so much as a thank you, he walked away. I said, 'may I have my coke please?' To which I was rudely shot back with 'you didnt say you wanted a coke.' To which I replied 'oh I am sorry, my voice is a little husky, you must not have heard me' (no biggee..right?) To which he continued to ARGUE WITH ME. Are ya friggin kidding me asshole? I mean its sooo not a big deal. But really? Really? Whatever happened to the customer is always right? And dammit, I did say it! Lol. Ok, so maybe anyone reading this will think me a total loser for droning on about this, but as a former starving artist waitress, I know the value of a customer, and by reading all of the posts on here, it seems to me that Phils is batting 0 in the 'good review' column. You would think in todays economy and with much better establishments such as Bascilicos down the street, this place would be doing all they can to keep what little customers they have. I threw out the pizza it was so bad and went to Wawa and got a chicken sandwich which was fabulous. I did proceed to sit on the bench right outside of Phils and eat my chicken sandwich all the while smiling at asshole owner who coincedentally was in front of his tip jar that had the word 'Karma' taped on it. No suprise that jar was empty. Hmmmmm funny how that works.

DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT IF YOU WISH TO BE TREATED AS A VALUED CUSTOMER! Allow me to describe my experience at 10 pm on a friday night (in an empty restaurant). After ordering 2 chzsteaks and fries, I was left waiting for 15-20 mins. before I approached the counter and inquired about my order. The food was already made and sitting on top of pizza oven. Why did you take my name when I gave the order at the counter, if you werent going to call it out when it was prepared? If I hadn't of asked, I would have been left waiting till doomsday! I asked, " Dont you have a better system to get the food to your customers that are waiting in-house?" The response was, "Relax pal, it was only a few minutes!" No apology for their lack of quality service, just a flip response that told me that this store couldnt care less about me and my happiness as a customer! Ironically, Phil has a sign posted in the store asking you to refer his store to my friends and family!! What a joke!! There are plenty of choices for pizza/steak sandwiches on that block...GO ANYWHERE BUT PHILS!

I started eating at Phil's when my parents, sisters and I camped every Summer in Sea Isle. My dad would walk up from the beach to get us hoagies for lunch and to this day (and that's about 40 years now) I have never found a better place for Hoagies and Pizza. I'm going to recommend this place to Guy Fieri for his "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives". It deserves the best recognition possible. If you ever have the chance to try this place out ... actually it's a must! Continued succes from Ann Kirkwood.
