South Side Bowl is horribly managed. From the arrogant owner, Mark Minelli, to the ignorant kids behind his counter, you are unlikely to find worse customer service or more unprofessional attitudes. As if the aforementioned is not bad enough, the bowling is expensive and the place is laden with riff-raff and unsupervised youth.



If you are like me and still want to "give the place a try," do not bother to call ahead to reserve a lane. As the owner smugly told me, South Side Bowl does not reserve lanes; they merely place callers on a "priority list." I reserved two lanes for 7:00 pm on a Saturday night well in advance. Nonetheless, there was a failure of communication on the part of the South Side Bowl staff, and lanes were unavailable upon arrival. After waiting for over an hour, my party of TWELVE walked out. Despite the absolute inconvenience twelve people experienced due to the negligence of his staff, the owner, Mark Minelli, was utterly unapologetic, haughty, and completely unaccomodating. I will never return. It is my understanding that Mr. Minelli owns Idle Hour Lanes as well as a laundromat and storage facility in Taylor. Unless you want a similar experience, I would not use any of his "services."

YEAH SOUTH SIDE IS DEFFINETLY ONE OF THE BEST BOWLING ALLIES AROUND IN PA. THERE EMPLOYEES ARE EXCELLENT EVEN THE PART HOST/HOSTESS EVEN THOU MOST OF THEM ARE YOUNG THEY SHOW THAT THEY WANT TO BE THERE. AT IDEL HOURS THEY NEVER SMILE THEY JUST ASK WHAT YOU WANT GIVE IT TO YOU AND THEY DONT WANT TO BE BOTHERED WITH YOU. THE PRICES AT SOUTH SIDE ARE REASONABLE THERE FOOD IS GREAT AND THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE DOWN THERE TO TALK TO EVEN IF YOU DONT KNOW THEM THEY ALWAYS TALK TO YOU NO MATTER WHAT. THE FOOD IN MY PERSONAL OPINION AT IDEL HOURS IS TERRIBLE THATS IT END OF STORY ABOUT IDEL HOURS THEY ARE TERRIBLE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TO GO TO SOUTH SIDE FOR A GOOD TIME.
