Dr. Joseph Giacometti joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 2019. He practices in our Scranton and Forty Fort offices. Dr. Giacometti specializes in Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He treats various medical and surgical problems involving the eyelids, face, eye socket, and tear drainage system. He also specializes in surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures of the eyelids and face. Dr. Giacometti received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed an internship at Lankenau Medical Center in the Philadelphia suburbs, followed by Ophthalmology training at Yale University, where he served as chief resident in his final year. He completed a two-year fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Giacometti is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He was inducted as a member into the highly selective American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and a past executive member of the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians. Prior to joining NEI, Dr. Giacometti practiced in the greater Philadelphia area. In addition to working in a busy private practice, he also served on the oculoplastic and orbital surgery service at Wills Eye Hospital, where he contributed to the education of residents and medical students both in clinic and the operating room. A native of Old Forge, he is thrilled to return to Northeastern Pennsylvania to continue his career at NEI.
