The Scottsdale Police Department is a progressive law enforcement agency certified by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. Its forensic services division identifies, documents, collects and preserves physical evidence to aid in the successful disposition of all investigations in accordance with legal and professional guidelines. The department s investigation bureau investigates various types of violent and property crimes and offers specialized law enforcement response to assist patrol personnel in high-risk situations. The Scottsdale Police Department also operates a special operations division that enforces traffic laws and maintains detention facilities. Located in Scottsdale, Ariz., the department encompasses an area of more than 184 square miles and has over 400 sworn officers and nearly 250 civilian employees.
