Been going to Ankers, since I was a kid with my Dad/Mom, From the 70’s -90’s when Belle & LOU owned it, BEST FISH EVER! Once Married, we lived on Schuyler St, and the kids and I walked to ANCHORS for summer lunches, or to bring home 2# of Fish/Fries delicious1 BELLE/ LOU are gone now to the big fryer in the sky, but I have been their in 2022 when we came up to NY, to get some PERECCA’s Pan Pizza, Italian Sausage, and a couple of LARGE ROUND Italian Bread to take to Buffalo. So we ate lunch on the way at Anchors. All I can say, the make Belle and Lou smile.! EXCELLENT FISH! FRESH,FRESH,FRESH! Crisp fries as I remember!

When we are in the mood for fish there is not a better place to go to then Ankers on Altamont Ave. My order usually consists of 1 lb. of fish and a ¼ lb. of smelt. The owner makes great coleslaw, potato salad, macaroni salad and brown beans. Getting fish here definitely is quick and easy so you don’t stink up your house with that dreaded fish smell. He does have quite a menu to choose from for everyone in the family. You get plenty to eat and it’s not going to break the bank.
