He believes in the therapeutic nature of a warm, trusting, and non-judgmental relationship, as well as in the inherent abilities and values within each client. Dan has four years experience as a bereavement counselor with a local Hospice, helping individuals, couples, families, and groups cope with the death of a loved one. Dan also ran a yearly summer camp for children ages 6-13, as well as an ongoing support group for school-aged kids from Kindergarten through 12th grade. He also facilitated groups for bereaved spouses and adult children, as well as a gathering of parents who lost a son or daughter. Dan also has extensive work with older adults in nursing home and rehabilitational settings throughout the Chicagoland area. He conducted research on the effects of a positive environment on mood and self-esteem and has presented at numerous conferences on self-care, on coping with Alzheimer's and dementia, and on positive psychology. Dan is originally from Poughkeepsie, New York, the pride of the Hudson Valley. He is an avid sports enthusiast, music and movie buff, and comedy fan.
