You would never guess it by just driving by (other than the parking lot being packed all day long), but this little hole in the wall serves up some of the best Island cooking in Savannah.

I was a student at a certain Art and Design school in town and my building was a block and a half away. One evening I was very hungry, and the only food nearby that I knew of was the cafeteria at the other nearby building and the "golden arches". The cafeteria was closed. So it was that I began my walk of shame to the fast food giant. But something caught my eye halfway; some neon signs and a very tempting aroma wafting faintly in my direction. I stood and looked for a minute, pondering my dilemma. I curiously shuffled towards my new favorite restaurant and never looked back.

I ate at Island breeze dozens of times in the four years I was nearby, each time delicious. Any time friends or family visited, I insisted they try Island Breeze. The portions are huge, the prices are reasonable and the flavors are bold and authentic. I also like that they have a selection of sodas that you can't find anywhere else, but the real treat is their plantains sauteed to perfection...... Where was I? The only real downside I can think of is the somewhat limited menu, but really, it's not like Mickey Dees has that much stuff you'd actually want to eat anyway.

A Savannah must try.
