Very unprofessional, rude, bullying behavior by the owner and her husband. Kenneled our 2 dogs here during Christmas, and they assured us that they would be allowed in the open area of the office/grooming room with them as we had concerns over them being left in a small room with no runs, just a colapsable caging area. Tried to pick them up on the 27th of December, and their answering machine stated they were closed until the 30th. A text message from the other girl who works there stated "they decided to close because they worked over time grooming the week before Christmas". This meant our dogs were left alone pretty much all day and night with maybe someone coming to take them out on occasion (they do not have runs). When I arrived, I was told a double price regarding what was originally agreed upon, and they forced a $40 bath fee on us, and it was clear our dogs did not have a bath. There was a "closed" sign on the door and noone was there all day so how did they get a bath? I had to bring them to a groomer and one of our dogs had crust in his eyes so badly. The groomer even documented how badly our dogs looked. I had to call the police as I refused to pay the double price. These people bullied me and threatned my husband's military career and mine as well upon pickup. I did take a video of their rude and unprofesisonal behavior as well. I kept stating I would pay the agreed upon price, but they actually asked the police to arrest me for theft of services. They stated negative comments about military people, called me a con artist, contacted other kennels and told them not to board with us (one of them contacting us to tell us this absurd behavior). I tried to write a review on fb, but they deleted it, and when my husband finally wrote a review, they FILED AN IG (Inspector General) report against him. This is the most unprofessional and rude facility. Contemplating a lawsuit for defamation of character, slander and false filing of a military IG investigation.

My dog is high-anxiety and doesn't
like going to new places. However, he loved Barka Barkstar! Sherill and Rene were so good with him!! Great
place with great service!!

I've been using Barka Bark Star for years! They always make my dogs look like Baron stars and my dogs love going to see them. Very professional! Thanks for always being so awesome!

Been using these people for ten years. My older dog needs special attention which she is given just like at home. They love going to Barka Barkstar and so do we.

For many years I have used Barka Barkstar for their services with much satisfaction. I own 3 dogs and my parents have one and they too use Barka Barkstar. I have personally known Rene for nearly 10 years and will gladly vouched for her business's expertise. Around here most stores are locally own and so everyone knows everyone. Rene has a reputation of having so much passion for pets and being trustworthy. At Barka Barkstar, it's hard not to be satisfy with the services and care of your beloved pet as Rene and her staff have much adroitness. If you are nearby and/or looking for a pet resort that will give you eximious results, then I highly recommend Barka Barkstar as your choice.

Barka Barkstart really does treat your furry children like stars. As scared as my dogs are to go places sometimes, they always love going to get their bath and occasional hair cut every month! I love this place!

My experience with this facility over the years has been exceptional. The owners and staff are very pleasant, helpful, and accommodating. The services are top notch with very reasonable prices. I can't imagine taking my fur baby anywhere else! Highly recommended!

I have been a client of Barka Barkstar for years. My dogs, Daisy, Rosie, and Oscar, absolutely love going to Barka Barkstar. They go somewhat regularly for grooming and bathes and more frequently for boarding. I especially appreciate the boarding because Rene, the owner, and Sherrill, her assistant, make such an effort to keep the dogs safe, exercised, and happy. I have never had a bad experience with Barka Barkstar; on the contrary, Rene and her husband have helped me with pick up of my dogs when i was ill in the past. They are more like family than a kennel. I know they love my dogs and treat them with kindness, and for that I am eternally grateful.

My Yorkie is known around my school and among my friends and relatives as "Mr. Rotten:" I note this to establish that he is a very spoiled dog whom I adore. Rene and Geoff have always groomed him except for the short time when they were living in another state. Rene is an excellent as well as a caring groomer. Geoff provides patience and love for all of the animals that come into Barka Barkstar. My little man always looks like an Academy Award winning BarkStar when I pick him up.



Rene has always groomed my Yorkies since she began grooming (before Geoff came along). I had a previous Yorkie for thirteen years, and I have had this dog for nine years. I have driven miles and miles to make certain that she is my groomer. Rene and Geoff are the only people except for my daughter that I have ever let keep my dog. I did not worry about him although I missed him very much.



One very important thing that needs to be noted about Rene and Geoff is that they are very observant and devoted to maintaining the health and welfare of the dogs that are cared for at Barka Barkstar. They have alerted me to several areas of concern related to my dog. Neither one minds saying that your dog seems to be XXXXX and you might want to take him to the vet.YES, I try to always have one or two of their cards in my wallet so that I can send other dog-loving

people to their grooming establishment.

When we first tried Barka Barkstar we were a little worried as we have a very spoiled pet who doesn't like to be separated from her "Daddy". When we entered we were made to feel welcome and Geoff and Rene made friends with Snow who wasn't at all worried about being taken into the back for her " Beauty Treatment". Even though they are extremely busy they do a wonderful job! Last year my husband had a chain saw accident and a few days afterwards Snow was scheduled to be groomed. When Rene called to remind of the appointment and I explained our situation she immediately offered to come pick her up and bring her back home. What wonderful customer service, which is very rare in this day and age. When I am asked to recommend a groomer Geoff and Rene will be the first to come to mind.

Thought this was another place, but left my pet anyway. Wish I didn't. Crazy folks here. don't think my dog liked it either.

I own a long haired double coated Shilo Shepard who is quite a chore to groom. I have tried several groomers including mobile groomers with marginal success. In the past, everytime Gracie was finished with grooming, she was very upset and shakey for hours. This all changed when I took her to Barka Barkstar. Right away, Rene and Geoff made her feel comfortable and when I picked her up she was not only glad to see me but truely a happy camper. Not only that, her coat was imaculate. I know how much time it takes to do a proper job on her and no one has been able to match the quality of the grooming offered by Barka Barkstar. I even got the sense that Gracie was proud of her new look.



In addition, I also want to report a terrible experience Gracie had with a so called Pet Resort in Hardeeville where I left Gracie for two weeks while we vacationed. Worst treatment of a pet left at a kennel I have ever seen. Although the staff was very nice and an inspection of the facility was satisfactory, the actual care was substandard. They allowed Gracie to languish in a wet kennel to the point that her fur on her belly became so matted it was impossible to brush. I right away took her to Barka Barkstar where Rene and Geoff worked on her all day in an attempt to unmatt her. Finally Geoff had to call to tell me the only way to treat her was to shave her belly because further dematting would cause undo stress on Gracie not to mention the pain. Geoff and Rene were as upset as I was about her treatment at the "Resort" and did a wonderful job restoring Gracie's coat even though her belly had to be shaved. There was deep concern for Gracie on their part and their meticulous care to reconditioner her was exceptional. I was worried Gracie would be upset when I picked her up particularly after all she had gone through. But, once again, when I got there, Gracie was happy to see me and in a great mood.



I can't say enough about Barka Barkstar. Believe me, if their boarding facility had been ready at the time of the incident, that's where Gracie would have stayed and indeed, that is where she will stay in the future.

I boarded my two dogs at Barka Barkstar recently and was very nervous. Rene and Geoff quickly bonded with my dogs, bathed and groomed them. One of my dogs is very nervous and a horrible patient, however, they made friends with him and were able to give him his medication.



I would recommend them highly!!!!
