WARNING DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

A contract was made with J&J Paving to excavate and pave my residential driveway. James Cooper, owner of this company requested a 50% deposit at the time of signing the contract ($2100 of the projected $4200 job cost). A check was written for this amount in July 2015. The bank verifies my check was immediately cashed by Mr.Cooper via a bank teller for cash. It is now December 2015 and the work has not been started. Multiple phone calls were exchanged between myself and Mr. Cooper over the last 6 months. Several start dates for the work were promised but never fulfilled. Mr. Cooper usually returned my phone calls in a timely manner and gave several reasons for the work not being started including personal issues, machinery malfunctions, being behind on other jobs, and weather. It became apparent that the work would not be done before the end of this season so I requested my money back and it was agreed that it would be returned by Mr. Cooper. He then notified me that he "ran out of checks." I requested a bank check or cash for the $2100 and he then told me he developed a personal health issue. He set a date for resolution of this health issue but on the new day when he was supposed to deliver a bank check (third passed deadline) he did not return any of my three phone calls nor did he produce the refund.

CHECK THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU WEBSITE AS WELL - HE HAS DEFRAUDED MULTIPLE PEOPLE IN THE AREA
