I bought a large heavy duty kayak trailer for my kayak business. I had problems with the large I-beams cracking within the first few months. Being in a different part of the state, I was told to bring the trailer to the manufacturer (Continental) in Miami. They told me the trailer was modified and would not be covered under the manufacturer's wrarantee. After a few phone calls, they (manufacturer) said they would do a repair. The repair worked for about 3 years, but I now have a problem related to and in the immediate same area. I called Barry's who after a long conversation told me that after nearly 4 years, even if I brought it to them for repairs I would need to pay them for the repairs. I told them that it was the modifications which they engineered and constructed which are at issue, the manufacturer will not warrantee because of them. DO NOT buy a custom manufactured kayak trailers from Barry's and expect it to last because it looks heavy duty, durable and made from aluminum. It may not and they do not stand by their design nor product.

Local fella here. Haven't been to Barry's in over ten years. I needed a new trailer for a Pelican Ambush, so I gave them shout. They not only had what I wanted, but it was a hundred bucks less than anyone else in town! They happily swapped, drilled and installed a 2" hitch before the ice in my tea melted. Same service I remember those many years ago. Glad to know some things haven't changed. Good work, y'all! ~ Cap'n Joe

If you use any mechanic, get a written estimate before any work is done. I have no problems with Barrys.

On Oct 22,2010 I brought my 2010 Lexus RX450h to Barry's to have a trailer hitch installed. I researched the installation guide prior to scheduling the installation and it seemed easy enough with no big modifications to my vehicle. After returning home after the installation, I noticed they hadn't replaced the appearance panel under the car. The 2 fasteners and rivet style fastener were not replaced and that left the wheel well liner unfastened to the frame. I returned to Barry's and talked to one of the owner's. He said they didn't replace the appearance panel and to do so that they would have to remove the rear bumper. I showed him the DrawTite hitch part #75676 installation guide for the Lexus RX450h that I downloaded from the DrawTite link off their own website. Step 2 says "Appearance panel to be reinstalled after trimming" Step 9 says "Trim appearance panel as shown" Step 10 says "reinstall appearance panel". They just threw the panel in the trash. I finished the job myself.
