When it opened there was amazing food and a very entertaining show that never disappointed. Each visit I have been less happy with the service. This time the food was great. The "show" was not even a show. An old asian man walked up with the cart and I thought "Oh, good we have one of the experienced chefs this will be good" and boy was I wrong. This guy moved very slowly and just cooked the food. There was absolutely no performance here. I have NEVER had a worse hibachi experience. I would have preferred the food not be as good and to have had a show. We talked to the hostess about this and she said she would talk to the manager and she knew the guy was bad. We talked to the girl at the front who told us that for a better show you should ask for cadet. We talked to the manager who mumbled "I will talk to him". At this point we left having paid. We left thoroughly disappointed and I have to say that Im not sure I even want to come back

I have no idea what this person before me is talking about. You are going to compare Kobe's to wok and roll. Really? A fast food restaurant to a family dining place. I have been going to Kobe's for the last 6 years in San Marcos and have never had an issue with the service or cook. I have met the manger Jeffrey and have brought my extended family to eat there and have never had a bad experience., Maybe you just had a bad day.

I wish I could have given 0 Stars. My husband had a taste for sushi to celebrate his birthday. I'd heard the food was good here so we were excited to try it. Unfortunately, the short experience we had here was horrible. Upon pulling up there was equipment outside and few cars. So my husband first peeked his head in and asked the front staff person if they were open. He responded that yes the sushi side was open but not the Hibachi. As my husband beckoned for me to come out the car to come in, we noticed a female staff person peering out a window at us. It was clear she did not think we could see her. My first instinct was that we were not welcome there, as I had experienced something similar at a restaurant in the past. My husband waved. Upon entering we were escorted to a booth without any utterance of a word. Once seated, menus were placed in front of us and the waiter asked for our drink order. He then went to the only other customers in the restaurant and socialized and conversed with them for about 5 minutes (yes I checked my phone). He brought back our water and left without giving us the opportunity to ask questions about the menu or order an appetizer. Then he went to the bar and began watching tv. At that time I decided given the poor customer service and lack of care for our business, we would take our money elsewhere. Once I left, I called the restaurant. I asked to speak with a manager and the person explained that he was the manager. I asked his name and his response was "Who is this". I explained that I was a customer that just left the restaurant and could I have his name. He finally said "Jeffery" In fact, after I confirmed, he was also the host/waitperson that sat and waited on us. I asked if I could have contact information for the owner or a corporate number and he explained that was him as well. When I began to explain that we left because of the poor customer service and lack of attention to us as customers, he exclaimed "We do not need your people here!". At that point I realized our mistreatment was based off more than just a staff with bad attitudes, but due to our appearance. I cannot pinpoint if it was our African American race or something else, but I cannot believe the poor treatment we received at this establishment. I will never return nor encourage anyone else to spend your money or time at this restaurant. No food is tasty enough to waste your money on rude, disrespectful owners and staff. I am a Texas State alumni, former employee, current Graduate student and San Marcos resident and will be sure to let all those I associate with in those capacities do give this restaurant any business. We decided to go to Wok n Roll Chinese and Sushi down the street and had a pleasant experience with great customer service, tasty food and the fastest service at an Asian restaurant I've ever had.

I honestly cannot believe that...

I honestly cannot believe that this place is still open. The first time I went in there the food was horrible and there were roaches everywhere. My family and I left before we even got all of our food. My daughter came into town and really wanted to go there. I told her the experience but since it had been a few months since the last visit we decided to give it a second chance. This time was worse, roaches running on the tables. I asked for a manager and was told I would not be getting a discount. I did not even mention a discount. Needless to say I called the health department.

worst sushi ever!!!

Being big fans of sushi, my wife and i have eaten at quite a number of sushi restaraunts and bars around the world, and i will say that they have run the gammut from phenomenal to mediocre. Tonight we decided to try the kobe steak house in san marcos texas, near were we live. It was without question the worst sushi i have ever been served, the spider roll was inedible, it tasted as if it had been fried in rancid grease, and the alaska roll was not made with chunks of crab, like it is at every other sushi bar i've ever been to, but with a crab salad that is mostly mayonaise, disgusting. The spicy yellowtail roll was edible, but the fish was not of a high quality that i expect from a sushi bar. We mentioned our dissappointment to our waitress, who sent over the manager. The manager actually had the lack of tact and profesionallity to argue with us that the food was in fact "good",and ended our conversation with ,what i took as, a very rude "that's how it is". She made no offer to "comp"even a portion of the bill, despite the full plate of sushi left on our table. Needless to say, we will not be returning to the kobe steak house.
