The premise on which India Currents is founded is simple: that Americans of all backgrounds are interested in learning about other world cultures and that they respond to information that is presented to them in an accessible and attractive manner. India Currents has won a lot of praise and recognition for its editorial content over the years. In 1991, the Federation of Indo-American Associations honored India Currents with its Cultural Awareness Through Journalism award.
