The AIDS Health Project, founded in 1984, is one of the oldest AIDS service organizations in the United States that serves more than 10,000 clients every year. It employs over 100 full- and part-time employees and has an annual budget of nearly $6 million. It is a program of the Department of Psychiatry of the University of California, San Francisco and is affiliated with San Francisco General Hospital. The AIDS Health Project is one of the leading providers of HIV-related mental health care services in San Francisco. It serves people with HIV-positive and HIV-negative people, caregivers, and friends, family members and partners of HIV-positive people. The organization administers the Risk Evaluation and Counseling for Health Program (REACH), which includes individual and group risk reduction counseling, as well as information and referrals for individuals seeking HIV prevention services. It also publishes books and newsletters on HIV-related psychosocial, mental health and counseling issues. In addition, the organization conducts more than 100 live and online training programs and workshops. The AIDS Health Project is located in San Francisco.
