Ravider Mittal, MD, is a board certified gastroenterologist with specialized training in gastrointestinal motility. Dr. Mittal leads UC San Diegos GI motility and physiology program. He focuses his practice on the accurate diagnosis and treatment of achalasia, Barretts esophagus, esophageal diverticula, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), hiatal hernia, nutcracker esophagus, diffuse esophageal spasm, gastroparesis, idiopathic vomiting, rapid gastric emptying, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and fecal incontinence. His clinical and research interests are in the area of gastrointestinal motility related disorders with special focus on the swallowing disorders, esophageal disorder, problems related to the anorectum and pelvic floor disorders. He has NIH funded research programs in the area of esophageal motor and sensory function as well as pelvic floor disorder as they relate to anorectal function.
