Cynthia Gonzalez, MD, is a board-certified neurologist who takes care of patients with life-threatening neurological and neurosurgical illnesses such as massive stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracerebral hemorrhage, subdural hemorrhage, intraventricular hemorrhage, brain tumors, brain trauma, status epilepticus (severe epilepsy), nerve and muscle diseases, spinal cord disorders and the cardiopulmonary complications of brain injury.As an assistant professor in the Department of Neurosciences at UC San Diego, Dr. Gonzales trains medical students, residents and fellows. Her research interests include neuroinfections and neuroimmunology, including the safety and feasibility of immunotherapy in the critical care population.Dr. Gonazalez completed a fellowship in neurocritical care at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, and a residency in neurology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine (now Ponce Health Sciences University) in Puerto Rico and is board-certified in neurology.She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the Neurocritical Care Society and the American Academy of Neurology.
