Anna McDivit Mizzell, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist who specializes in atherosclerotic heart disease, congestive heart failure, and womens cardiovascular health. She provides cardiac care for people before and after receiving solid organ transplants and works closely with the transplant teams at UC San Diego Health.Dr. Mizzell has a special interest in caring for women with cardiovascular disease and is involved in the American Heart Associations Go Red for Women" campaign to promote heart disease education and research. Dr. Mizzells research is focused on the perioperative care of renal (kidney) transplant patients, including how to provide better conditions for people before, during, and after their operation.Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Mizzell was an internal medicine physician with Scripps Memorial Hospital, providing care for overnight admissions to the intensive care unit and progressive care unit.Dr. Mizzell earned her medical degree from the University of Sydney. She completed her internal medicine residency at Cleveland Clinic and fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at UC San Diego School of Medicine, where she served as chief cardiology fellow. Dr. Mizzell is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.
