Located in communities throughout the United States, AMVETS Thrift Stores offer quality used clothing, household goods and toys at reasonable prices. The company is part of the AMVETS National Service Foundation that was created in 1948 with the goal of helping the unprecedented number of veterans returning from World War II to assimilate into civilian life. AMVETS National Service Officers and volunteers were trained by AMVETS and were recruited to work directly with these veterans and assist them with their individual needs. In addition to assisting those veterans with severe physical and psychological needs, the foundation works with many other veterans requiring assistance with disability benefits, the G.I. Bill and housing assistance. The thrift store has locations in California, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. AMVETS Thrift Stores has a store in San Diego.

Today I came in and found the ...

Today I came in and found the perfect dress and matching shoes for my 60's costume, got to the register only to be told that i cant buy the dress because it doesnt have a tag. The rude assistant manger begins telling me it needs to be "re-processed" seriously? it takes 30 seconds to made a price tag. Then the loss prevention guy treated me like it was my fault that it didnt have a tag. The cashier was great and TRIED to get my item "Re-prossed" but after waiting 2o minutues i gave up. I then spoke to another manager to return the shoes I know didnt need because they wouldnt sell me the dress. She, AGAIN went to ask the assistant manager, who said no. SO, instead of giving me a tag and selling me another item, the refunded my money for the shoes. That made no sense to me. I went down the street to the Vetrens Thrift Store and was treated much nicer. I will not be coming back, and so far I've told 10 other friends about this ridiculous experience today.
