In 1941, Pete and Cruz Cortez opened a little three-table cafe for early-rising farmers and workers at San Antonio's Mercado. Sixty years later Mi Tierra Cafe is a world-famous landmark - the place hometown regulars and hungry tourist go for authentic Mexican food and a warm Texas welcome. Mi Tierra now seats over 500 and is still located in Market Square, El Mercado

I ordered the chile relleno dinner and it was delicious. I wanted the mole sauce instead of the enchilada sauce on the enchilada. They changed without a question. The pan dulce was delicious too.

I just enjoy the atmosphere here, they are family oriented and been eating there since I was a child.

Always recommend Mi Tierra's to out of town guests. In my experience the food is always good. They are always busy and therefore service is not very quick however they can not be blamed for being busy, rather it's a testament to their reputation as a restaurant. Once you sit down the service is very acceptable. The atmosphere is festive and gives diners a real feel for the heart of San Antonio's spirit. There may be better samples of mexican food but with it's Riverwalk location, mariachis and ambiance it always impresses.

Not Just for Tourists

Always a great place to take visitors, but you don't have to wait for company. Bar is always a favorite spot for entertainment, no telling who will break out in song!!

not bad

the food was not too bad, better than some that we had during our stay, our main complaint was about the chips- way too hard! i was worried i would break a tooth on them, and not enough hot salsa either. But all in all, it was good.

Best Mexican Food

Best Mexican Food I have EVER HAD!

The atmosphere is great, and I didn't think the prices were bad for the quality. A must-do in San Anonio, TX.
