Took my truck in because of a vibrating in the front end of my truck..After leaving it there for them to find the issue ,they told me it needed a rear differential which was going to run around $2000.00 , I question them why and could not really give me a definite answer, so when I told them I didn't want it done, they said they would have to charge me labor to find out which charged me $250 if I didn't fix it there !! they are only good for oil changes that's it !! don't take your car there !!

I would give this Car-X location zero stars if I could because they have proven to be very misleading with their prices. They are not at all honest and will rob you of your money every chance they get. If you're looking for an honest shop please look elsewhere or you'll regret it. I chose to write this review to save you guys from losing your hard earned money.

We were on a long trip, going from California to Texas in our RV. We started having problems with our engine, it was smoking and smelling awful! We saw a sign for Car-X and stopped in to see if they could fix it. We had a great experience! They were polite and gave us a great price, and we were on the road in no time. Thanks, Car-X!

I trust Car-X because they are up front with everything. They go over all the details of my bill and what they're doing to my car so I never have to wonder what's going on. I like their transparency and forthright attitude.

The team at Car-X are very knowledgeable. I tried three shops, no one could figure out why my car wouldn't run. I finally went to Car-X and they recognized the problem right away. A couple days later I was driving like normal.

I love Car-X! I had a flat tire and they were amazing. I called them on a weekend and they came right out and fixed it for me. And the price was very reasonable! I would use their services again for sure!

The team at Car x has always done right by me and my car. I came here initially based on the good yelp reviews and have kept going back. They are very friendly and thorough in their explanations of repairs or issues. I use them for regular maintenance as well as the occasional repair when they happen. This place is the antithesis of the shady repair shop that pushes for unnecessary repairs or overcharges for work. In my experience they have been very fair in their pricing and I trust their work.

The problem of engine overheating was giving me lots of blues. I gave a call to Car x and they came to my workplace to take my car for a checkup. They even delivered on time. Great job

Don't believe their ad. a che...

Don't believe their ad. a cheater!! Charged me $1300, my car doesn't work.‎ - ‎ - 今天

I saw their ads and asked them to tow my car to the location. They replaced the ignition lock cylinder and so some diagnosis. The manager, a white old man, and later Jim served me and charge me $1300 total!!!! $610 for the ignition lock cylinder! The ridiculous thing is when I get my car back at their location, the car cannot start and they ask for more money to fix. Absolutely, I cannot believe them any more. Later I take my car to another mechanic, take $200 to replace the steering column, which including the ignition lock cylinder the CarX charged me $610! I promise the CarX is the worst service I have experience ever. you even cannot name it a service, it is a totally a scam. I am a foreign student studying in San Antonio, I don't know what can I do to punish their devilry. I have kept the receipt as evidence. If anyone can help me, please contact me at fzb14@hotmail.com

My friend, Blanca, took her 2003 Dodge Intrepid in for a routine oil change last week and was informed that there were necessary repairs that should be made. The repairs were to replace the valve covers and intake manifolds gaskets as well as a complete brake job, front and rear, with new rotors on the rear. The price for the gasket job was $336 and they quoted her $600 for the brake job. She, unfortunately, authorized them to do the gasket job but, called me and asked me to talk to the manager, Malcolm, about the brake job pricing. I did and he even assured me that had figured in a 10% discount for her:). What a deal! We did decline to let them do the brake job and if there had been a way to not let them do the gasket job, I would have walked on broken glass to prevent it but, she had already authorized that repair so, we were stuck. After I spoke with Malcolm, I contacted our regular mechanic, Dana, at Applewhite Automotive on Bandera Rd. and he gave me a price of $225 for the brake job that Car X wanted to charge $600 for. I wasn't at all sure that the rear rotors needed to be replaced but, even if it were necessary, that would only add $75 which would bring the total to $300 instead of Car X's $600- a no brainer if you ask me.

Well, we took the car to Applewhites this afternoon and about an hour after we left, Dana called me to tell me that oil was pouring out from the valve cover on the right side of the engine. I was shocked. I then proceded to tell him the horror story that Blanca had encountered with Car X. I immediately tried to call Malcolm at Car X but, he had gone for the day and won't be in until tomorrow morning. We will have to take the car back to Car X and find out why they either did such shoddy work or at the worst did no work at all for which they charged $336.

Stay as far away from these people as possible. They are crooks and charlatons of the highest order.

My friend took her 2003 Dodge Intrepid in for an oil change. Naturally they saw a single woman alone and decided to go for the gold. They told her that she needed a $600 brake job and a $336 valve covers and intake manifolds gasket job. She told them to go ahead and replace the gaskets since they convinced her that she would lose all the oil in the car if the repairs weren't done. Then she called me and asked me to talk to Malcolm, the manager about the pricing for the complete brake job. When I called, I wasn't aware that she had given them permission to replace the gaskets and he said that they were already into the job so, nothing could be done about that. I inquired about the high pricing for the brake job and he assured me that they had even figured in a 10% discount:). I immediately called her and told her to not let them touch the brakes. She did and I proceded to contact Applewhite Automotive on Bandera Rd. and Dana gave me a price of $225 for a complete brake job-$375 less than Car X. That pretty much told me what Car X is all about.

We took the car into Applewhite and about an hour after we left, Dana called with the news that oil was pouring out from the valve cover gasket that Car X had supposedly replaced last week. I related the story about Car X to him at that time and we will take the car back tomorrow and see what excuses they have to offer for charging $336 for repairs that at the very least were done improperly or at the most not done at all.

These people are seriously crooked and thieves of the highest order. Stay as far away from them as you can!

I don't recommend this place

All I needed was a tune up and my tensioner replaced. They did it but they didn't torque down a bolt that the tensioner needs. The vibration caused the bolt to sheer off in the engine block. I told these people about it and they were not cooperative with me. I could not afford to tow the vehicle to them on my own just so they can say that it is not their fault and then tow it to the garage that can drop the engine to remove the bolt. I offered to bring their mechanic to my house but they refused. From the start I could tell they would do and say anything to keep from accepting responsibility. These people cost me $625. They are only good for oil changes. Don't give these people your money.
