I went to meet with a maltese/yorkie puppy and was told to meet in a parking lot in Riverton, no where near the actual location. I thought that was suspicious. I was then told the day that I decided to adopt Jasper that I would have to take him home right there and then. They told me he was from a puppy mill in Minnesota and I was very confused as to how they got a hold of him. I paid $600 for a "rescue" pup that was clearly purchased from the puppy mill and not rescued at all. He had not been groomed and upon taking him to a veterinarian, he had round worm, a yeast infection in both ears, kennel cough, no microchip, and no vaccinations. They attempted calling the rescue to get information about his vaccination record and they claimed they had no record of a dog named Jasper ever being in their facility, or of me purchasing him. This is a horrible rescue and I would not recommend that anyone get their baby from this place. I'm so glad I saved him from that situation but they clearly do not care about the animals at all. I paid $600 for an unhealthy dog with no microchip that apparently does not exist. Every rescue that my family has ever purchased dogs from has been microchipped--especially if they are being sold for half a grand. If I could have given zero stars, I would have.

Seems likely to be a fraudulent front for puppy mills. Heather admitted they purchase most of their puppies at midwestern puppy mills at auction. They often buy from puppy mills and sell their puppies at 12 weeks but still use the term "Rescue". Many other reviews online I've read indicate they've seen the premises, which isn't public information and is hidden, and it contains very poor living conditions for the animals. I can't verify this myself but the sources seem credible. Wasatch Animal Rescue/Heather forces customers to sign a 5 page long confusing contract where Wasatch Animal Rescue retains ownership of the dog, essentially renting it out to those who are made to believe they're purchasing it. The contract was also contradictory at signing and actually broken (they force you to adopt the dog the day you pay, but the contract says if you don't pay 3-10 days before adoption you lose all rights and the contract is broken, this is one example of many) and legally requires anyone who signs it to pay Wasatch Animal Rescue $5000 for any breach of contract. Heather told me they actively litigate this and they were sueing someone the full $5000 for trying to sell their dog they'd had for a while to someone else. If anything happens they instantly get the dog back and sell it again to new owners. Heather was friendly until I started asking basic questions and immediately became belligerent and defensive and refused to do business. I would never do business with these people, be careful.
