Wow. We just had a very positive experience at the Valley Vacuum and Sewing. The owner, (3rd generation in the business) was so knowledgeable and eager to help us, I was amazed. It was all about helping us and not all about money. I recommend anyone needing sewing machine repair service visit this store. You will not ne disappointed.

speedy, affordable, honest!!

Don't use this business. I have had five strikes over two years and now they are out, but I believe them to be dishonest and hypocritical in business as a general rule. I first needed a bobbin casing cover for my Simplicity sewing machine. I decided to have the machine oiled and serviced at the same time. The service took SEVEN weeks, supposedly because they were waiting for the bobbin cover. Worse, an almost new machine was returned to me with a tension problem.



Then I needed a vacuum and research told me that Simplicity was the best vacuum made in the US. I bought from this store. The man promised to mail me a manual and warranty papers but never did, despite following up. Then came time for annual service and to repair a broken beater. The beater repair and service took weeks...again.



When I got the machine home, I noticed that the hose was split. This was either done during service or not noticed during service...either is unacceptable. Back to the shop and another long wait for a new hose to be ordered. When I went to pick that up, the hose was obviously used, an earlier model, scratched, dirty and worn. The store sold me a used hose as new. When I questioned this, because it was bviously worn, I was bullied. Then I got the hose home to discover it didn't work. I had to open a dispute with my credit card company to resolve it. At this point, I got a call from the owner blaming his employee for all of the issues, despite the fact that it is a family business and either he or his son had to authorize the sale of used parts as new. He also tried to tell me that what I thought was a short was an expensive sensor problem. These are the kind of people who tell you how moral and wonderful they are while they are cheating you.



Oh, the owner did admit that I was sold a used part as new and that it was the fault of his hapless employee. If the employee is so bad, why has he been employed there for years?



The owner then told new hose would cost over two hundred dollars. At this point I had already taken matters into my own hands and bought a new hose online for one hundred forty dollars.



I'm generally a very loyal customer. Note I kept trying with this business when most people would have gone elsewhere after the initial experience of waiting seven weeks for a minor repair. I learned a lesson here. I will never again give a second chance or ignore bad technical and customer service.



Finally, with a two yo vacuum not working, I decided to try a new shop. CITY WIDE VACUUM on 3300 South repaired my short in three days for thirty dollars. They were polite, reasonable, didn't try to bamboozle me with technical jargon or cheat me. The difference in every aspect of service was astounding.



Steer clear of Valley Vacuum and Sewing at all locations and at all costs. This business is terrible in every possible way. Go instead with City Wide Vacuum which got best of Salt Lake two of the last four years.

I love my Kirby Vacuum but find it SO HARD to find bags and products for it ... that's why I LOVE this place! And open on Saturday! Perfect! The people there are also very friendly and helpful! Thank you Valley Vacuum!!
