I have been with Clair Optical Co for over 30 years and the owner asked me to respond to the lady with the review. I have always been treated with respect and great service with Clair. I have consistently found them to be more competitive than 1800 contacts. If I have ripped a lens or need a few until I get into my doctor they take care of our family. I totally do not understand any part of her review given the 30 years of service I have received. I would recommend Clair Optical and have done to family and friends for 30 years. Some people just choose to be unhappy and spend far too much time trying to hurt others.

I am doing a Owner review to respond to the review Reviewer B. has posted. If you read her review, she is confusing me with her Doctors office which I feel has not done anything wrong, everyone needs a fitting for contacts with a new Rx. The only interaction I have had with this lady was when she asked me pricing on contacts. We are very competitive but she had a one time coupon that made the place she used less than us. She needed a fitting and wanted me to do it and write it on her Doctors Rx but not buy anything from me which I told her I could not do.Please read her full review. I have contacted her to inform her that she is linking me with her Doctors office and that she needs to correct this. Clair Optical tries very hard to please our customers, I ask that you read her review and judge for yourself.

I needed a new prescription for my contacts and went to Salt Lake Eye Associates to obtain one. It was my first time at this business and as a new patient I filled out and signed all the necessary forms. One of the forms is a 'Contact Lens' policy (above). Dr.Rachel S. Benator from Salt Lake Eye Associates performed my eye exam and sent me to the other room (and apparently to the other business, Clair Optical) to get my contacts fitting done. This is where I met Alan. Charming, all kind and polite, quiet, smiling, and only concerned about pleasing the customer, sweetheart man, operating under 'Clair Optical Co Inc'. He was indeed very polite, took me to a private room, and offered a seat. He was all about making me feel comfortable. This sweetie-pie very politely refused to do my fitting if I won't purchase the contacts from him! Just like that! Yeah-yeah, you will say that this was in the contract and I should have known what I was signing. Well, when I was signing the contract with Salt Lake Eye Associates I could not imagine that the prices for contacts at Clair Optical are so high. After I refused to purchase the contacts from Alan and asked to just get a prescription for contacts Alan said that he does not charge a fee for a fitting, and sees no sense in giving me a prescription if I won't purchase the contacts from him. So, this was a huge time-wasting experience for me. For comparison, I ordered my contacts from VisionDirect.com ($150.00 for a year supply of Night&Day with a 25% discount available online or use code from 'entertainment' book "EBOOK25" - expires 12/31/2013). Alan wanted $275 for same lenses with 'free' fitting exam - hahaha. So, I agree with other customer who posted here. The place is overpriced and unethical. Alan was also arguing with me that his prices beat 1-800-contacts prices. I have been wearing glasses / contacts for over 20 years. I have tried about all the Optical Shops in Salt Lake it seems, a friend recommended Clair Optical to me since I was complaining about my last pair of glasses. I wanted good quality for a fair price and felt that I would never find this given my past experience with purchasing glasses. Fast forward to my visit to Clair, I am impressed now that I have my glasses and will say that my experience was above my expectations. The staff spent a lot of time with me and I am very happy with the price I paid and how the glasses are working. I will be back.

I have been using Clair for 20 years. I have never had a bad pair of glasses. In a world of help your self service..... it is nice to find a place that gives great service and value. I wanted to take a few moments to give my recommendations to a wonder place to do business.

Horrible service, very greedy, only care about lining their pockets! I am NOT from Utah, and am only here for a short period of time for work. I needed glasses, and spend over $500. Since we travel for work so much a friend recommended an online business if I lose my glasses or just need a quick pair for a reasonable price. I have my prescription but I needed my pupil distance in order to get glasses online should I ever need to. Since I just bought glasses at Clair Optical, I went in to get my pupil distance and they refused me, saying that they weren't in the business of people going elsewhere for glasses. Regardless of the fact that I'm NOT FROM HERE and will NEVER be back. I will make sure that every local I meet knows how rude and unhelpful they were. That's just wrong.
