If there was a zero this place was it. Horable service, bad food, they cleaned the grill into my husbands food and refused are request to talk to management. Just sucked I was horrified.

We stopped by Chang's after a very long day at the zoo. We were all very hungry and exhausted by the time we finally got to Salem and were glad to finally be getting some food, and also since we do not have a Mongolian Grill in our town (another 2 1/2 hour drive away) we were excited to eat there. My husband has Crohn's disease and after making his food and sitting down to eat it (and very much wanting to), he took one bite and was overcome with the nausea that is caused by his Crohn's disease. Those of you with Crohn's know that sometimes you will sit down to eat, after feeling famished, and just suddenly be unable to eat with the stomach cramps and nausea. The rest of our family had already finished eating (all only our first plate). We knew this was an all-you-can eat buffet, and that there is usually no to-go containers allowed. After having made his meal and just being able to take one bite we asked for an exception to be made, that we may be able to have a to-go container so that he could eat it later when hopefully he felt better. We were told no, that there were no containers, and that we could not use our own container, that their rules did not allow any food out. We were absolutely astonished that we were treated like this. My husband had to have a bowel re-section, five feet of intestine removed, and has severe Crohn's disease, but Chang's does not allow any exceptions to be made for this. I can't help but wonder if a person fighting cancer, sick from chemotherapy were to go in there and ask for their food to go because they were unable to even eat a bite after making it, how they would be treated. What if that person were a child? What about a pregnant mother sick with morning sickness? We offered to pay for whatever we had to just so we could take it home, but the answer was still no. They only offered to take the charge for one adult plate off the bill, and then promptly threw a full plate of food away that we would have gladly eaten. We paid anyway, but really wish that my husband was allowed to eat what he paid for. Instead of leaving Chang's satisfied, we left feeling humiliated, nauseous, and still hungry. My tip for Chang's is to allow some room in their rules for a bit of compassion for their customers. We will not step foot in that restaurant again.

There are better choices in Salem

The food is typical steam table fare, which I expected. The service was indifferent and surly, which I did not. I will not be back.Chuck Bradley

The Best Mongolian Grill I've Been To

I've been to Mongolian grills in Texas, Coos Bay, Portland, and Salem. Chang's is a standout. In fact, when the only Chang's was in Portland, I'd drive there. I was delighted when they opened the Salem restaurant. I've eaten there perhaps 20-30 times and it's always good. The wait staff is pleasant and helpful. The food is always fresh and good. They keep it very clean (which is often an issue at these places for some reason). Lunch is about $3 less than dinner, but almost the same (dinner has shrimp but lunch doesn't). It's almost always packed, so you might want to try to hit the off-peak times.

Fun and exciting

I like to do Mongolian once or twice a year for the experience and Mongolian Grill does a great job adding to the event. Thanks for everything.

Delicious and healthy Mongolian Grill

This is always a winner and you will never be disappointed. You will be seated as quickly as a table is available. The waitstaff is courteous and attentive. We enjoy this restaurant so much, that for months we dined here weekly. We have tried other similar Mongolian grills and they did not compare. The variety and quality of ingredients is always consistently good and the areas are kept clean.###You more than get your money's worth with an all you can eat pricing.###We have recommended this restaurant to many people and have taken guests there ourselves for birthday dinners, etc.
