We recently needed a pest control service due to the possibility of rats in our walls. So are family was looking for someone to come out quickly to review the situation. This was the first company who returned our call the same day.

We were looking for a family owned company because we have great experiences with service from these types of companies.

My first impression was the lack of preparation to assure my carpet and floors where protected from him crawling underneath the house, then walking though my house. On his next visit I ended up laying out sheets to protect my floor. No business should cause you more damage to come in to do their job, including to have to hire carpet cleaners after their visit ($50 cost).

The cost for our first visit was $250 which he crawled underneath the house and in my attic. A total of a 20 minute visit. He stated it was not rats, but could be a skunk or a cat.

He set out two traps (set them out in my backyard) total of 5 minutes. We were charged $325.00 for this.

After a few days we trapped a cat. Which if he found it he would of taken that cat to the Humane society and charged us their fee which would have been $75 according to the Humane Society. I released the cat.

Now knowing it was a cat, not a big problem in my eyes.

He installed better grates to keep the cat out. These were steel grates that where not necessary, because cats will not cut through the grates the house came with. What did need to be done was the grate where the air conditioner was added. Being a business person myself I would have said after realizing that if it wasn’t rats or a skunk and only a cat that all the protection wouldn't be necessary and saved my customer some money.

The grates installed was $365. Installation took about 1 hour.

Then he was suppose to come back and spray underneath the house and remove the urine the cat left. We set up an appointment and we had to make arrangements for everyone to be out of the house including finding pet sitters. Not showing up on time I called him and he said “the weather is bad and he had skunk problem at another property. So no call from him to reschedule and the cost I had for pet sitters was lost ($20).

At that time I told him we no longer want his service and please refund the portion of the money for the service he didn’t provide. He said they do not give refunds and said he had to go.

So here is the break down of service:

Initial inspection $250

Trapping $350

Grates/urine removal $365

Discount -$250

Carpet cleaning of areas he tracked through $50

Payment for cat sitters without $20 cancellation fee.

My total cost was $785.

Companies total time on site: 1 hour and 20 minutes (estimated). Realize that all the service was not been provided (cat urine removal).

We are looking at the BBB to report too. We might be screwed because the Bill is not itemized properly. They stated “it is not illegal to overcharge”. They did indicate all service or refund for not completed service is required by the company.

So we see if we will get a refund for not provided service.
