I've been going to this place for 15 years, it just keeps getting better. Well worth dropping in when you're in the neighborhood.

I'm kind of a chow mein junkie and I've had Chow Mein from Chicago to the west coast. But living in the Twincities I think I've found that Golden Chow Mein has the best Chow Mein in the St. Paul area. I also tried their Egg Foo Yung and think it is also the best in the Twincities area. I can't speak for any of their other things on the menu as I've yet to try them.

The chef here has remained true to his roots- not jumping on bandwagons and trends. The result is consistently good food. The stir frys are always fresh tasting. The egg rolls are made there-- not heated up frozen ones. Nothing bad to say about the food, but the service can be uneven( waitress tends to be a little pushy)... But it's worth it for a really nice meal every time. My favorite dishes include the Shrimp Egg Foo Young and Sesame Chicken. Most dishes are under $8- with many under $5-

Dont drive too fast. u might miss it. Absolutely delicious. the chinese u grew up with. varied menu. great egg foo young, appetizer platter, chicken wings, sweet & sour chicken, etc. once u are a customer, u can call in an order 4 pick-up. (Reminds me of the restaurant that was on University Avenue that had many different names over the years, & is gone now, but had the best food in town, including a buffet!)
