Saved my childs life

I read some of the reviews and had to write about our encounter with Dr Bloom. My son was 6 we had gone to multiple dermatologists allergists and doctors had so many scans and blood draws it was sad and frustrating. These doctors that we saw where ranked doctors in their fields and none could come up with answers. I was at my end so did some searching found Dr Bloom and made an appointment. Dr Bloom was very attentive asked a few question and within 5 min diagnosed Blake with Dermatomyositis a rare auto immune condition. When he told me I have to admit I didn't believe him questioned his ablity and the short amout of time he spent but he understood got us in with Dr vehe who ran tests and confirmed what it was. If we had not gotten that diagnosis Blake would have lost the ability to swallow got open ulcers on his skin and lost the ability to walk and possibly died. Doctors are human they all have some personality quirks that people don't like but we need to keep an open mind because that doctor that we may dislike because we feel he didn't address us right or give us the time we felt we needed may just be the doctor that could save your life..

scam to get your money

Solved the problem we went for, but...Scheduled appt for removal of muluscum. Got there, and we were told it was muluscum. We should schedule an appt for a Friday to take care of it (I thought we were there to take care of it), they only due procedures on Friday. So, scheduled another appt, which costs another copay. They then wanted to give us numbing medication and have us come back a different day; no mention of that previously. We skipped the numbing and got it done.Weeks later, we recieved another bill for lab fees. Apparently, it is standard practice to not ask what you want, and just charge money for nonsense procedures. I guess they got there money, as it isn't worth legal action for us to get that $40.However, it seems that this practice is horribly unethical, and may be a small factor in the mess that is our health care industry.

Ex-employee

I worked for 5 years as an Medical Assistant and decided for a change. NEVER thought excepting this job was going to be this bad. The doctors ill manners are worse behind doors. Then to be having personal relationship with the Front Desk Manager. Boy! Drama! His hands shake so much that sometimes when he's doing cutting or doing stitches.. no words can describe. It was scary! Sometime he can't see the other end of the thread so we would have to him where it is so he can continue putting in the sutures. But he does know his meds. I'll give him that! Found me another job asap and left!

Skin Issues gone!

My daughter has had skin issues for the past few years that have been mis-diagnosed by other clinics. I took her to see Dr. Bloom and they cleared up with in a matter of weeks. Stop by and see him first. I learned my lesson!

Mom who wants the very best

While I have to agree with the comments about Dr. Bloom's poor bedside manner, he is known to be the best of the best in this area. I would describe him as abrupt and strange, but I don't doubt his abilty or knowledge one bit. I even considered going to a different derm. but was talked into remaining with him from my pediatrician. She insists that even though his manner is different than most pediatric physicians, she has total faith in him and wouldn't want my daughter to receive care from anyone else. I am willing to sacrifice a little poor attitude for high quality care!

Rude Derm

My 2 month old daughter have a hemangioma on her left arm. She was referred to go see Dr. Bloom. The derm did not answer any my questions and told me the birthmark knows how to go away on its own. He wanted to draw blood my baby's head. I've never heard of that before. After refusing it took him and three of this medical assistants to hold down my 2 month old baby. I thought that was out of line. I would never take my daughter to go see him again. It was a horrible experience.

Horrible Experience - Not a Pediatric Friendly Clinic!

What a horrible experience! I took my 15 month old daughter to this clinic to get her eczema re-evaluated. The Dr came into the exam room, took one look at her and said "eczema." He didn't review her history or ask any questions. He then stood up, told the Medical Assistant what perscriptions to write. As he was walking out the room, I got in two questions. After he left, the Medical Assistant put an informational video and told me that "it would answer all of my questions." When I saw that the video was 18 minutes long, I left the room. As I was walking out, the Medical Assistant tried to hand me some prescriptions. I told him that I did not want them. I called later that day to ask for a refund on my co-pay; after the "office manager" checked with the dr, she informed me that it would be "illegal to issue a refund since I had been seen by the dr." I guess "seen" is in the eye of the beholder. I agree with a previous poster; don't be fooled by the "pediatric" in his title.

Appreciated Dr. Bloom

I wanted to let others know not to be turned off by some of the reviews here. Dr. Bloom is definitely a dermatologist first and a pediatrician second, but after visiting several other PCP and derms for my son's eczema, Dr. Bloom was the only doctor who helped us find a solution. It would be great if every doctor could also have the qualities of a happy day care provider, but frankly, I was just thrilled that he was such a good physician. And since he is the ONLY ped/derm between Chicago and Denver, I feel like we are lucky to have been able to have him treat our son. And I guess I'd tell other parents to just speak up if you don't like something....sometimes you know your child best and can help the doctor with ideas. Better to offer suggestions than just blame someone after the fact...

not young child friendly

I brought my 4 year old thinking that they would have a child friendly environment. Most of the staff was great, but I was disappointed with the doctor, he had no bedside manner with my child and berated his staff in front of us and a medical student. I would not recommend taking your child there. We finished the treatment with them only because I couldn't get in at the other clinic that my insurance would cover for over a month.

Apalling bedside manor with children

My 4 yr old had small bumps (mulluskum) cut off her face at this clinic. It was a horrid experience. They did not explain anything to my child and she was terrified. Although she was being as cooperative as she could they told her she "better sit still because it would be alot worse if she didn't". You don't tell a 4 year old that! Then the Dr wanted to do Nitris. They didn't explain anything about Nitris (risks, costs, procedure etc) to me or my child. They just came from behind her head and shoved the mask over her nose without even showing her the devices first. I would not recommend this clinic to ANYONE and I don't intend to go back for our follow up, I'll go somewhere else. If I can save another child from a scary experience it is well worth filling out this comment form. These people are not good with children. Don't let the beautiful facility and the word "pediatric" in their name fool you. Take your child somewhere else-- your child deserves better!
