Complete Custom Painting was started in 2005 by Nick Dettinger.  After Graduating from the University of St. Thomas in 2001 Nick worked in the exteriors industry selling, siding, windows and painting jobs.  Nick noticed a large trend becoming apparent in the exteriors business, that much of the vinyl siding market was being taken by Fiber Cement Siding.  This offered a large opportunity to painting contractors because siding installers needed quality painters to paint their siding and leave a positive impression in their customers’ minds.  For that reason Nick Dettinger started Complete Custom Painting.  The plan was to start painting fiber cement exteriors and transition into a full scale painting company offering commercial painting, interior fine finishing, epoxy coatings and exterior wood restoration.  Our first customer was a James Hardie Siding Installer out of Saint Paul, MN.  We painted close to 30 houses for them in our first year in business.  We also washed and sealed a few decks for them in our first year in business.  They remain a customer to this day.   In 2005 Complete Custom Painting worked with Multiple James Hardie Siding Contractors and completed over 70 exterior paint jobs for them.  Complete Custom Painting continues to be a trusted source for exterior fiber cement and hardboard painting weather brand new or decades old.     Our interior experience started in apartment turn work in 2005.  Painting a cheap apartment is not as high profile as painting a million dollar house on Lake Minnetonka but we learned a lot and kept busy through the first winter in business.  The following spring we were asked to paint our first high end enamel job.  We agreed and brought on a trusted painter with 15 years experience and worked along side him.  The project was a total sucess and we earned more work from that same contractor.  Over the next two years we worked alongside a top quality fine finisher to perfect our technique.  In addition we have attended the ML Cambell School of fine finishing offered through Hirshfields.  We have been selected to stain and paint extremely high end houses including houses that exceed a million dollars in price.   Our commercial experience came primarily through working with property managers.  We established relationships with friends in the industry and worked diligently through our paint providers to offer commercial property managers and residential property managers the very best quality job at the highest value.  We attended multiple commercial coatings classes offered through Hirshfields and Sherwin Williams.  We offer epoxy floor coatings, marine coatings, boom work, scaffold work, night time work and large crew managment.
