Caring and kind-hearted people.

We took our ten year old Bichon into the hospital on Sunday. He was in critical condition, acute internal hemorrhaging...he was dying. He died in my husband's arms. We were devastated. The doctor and staff were understanding, kind and patient with us. The doctor was knowledgeable, honest and forthcoming. If you have a very sick pet, this is where you want to go.

I feel like this might be the most important review I have ever written. While on vacation in California my husband and I got a call from our neighbor and cat sitter that our 2 and a half year old cat, Milton was unresponsive, we quickly looked up the closest 24hr emergency vet (as it was about 10PM on a weekend) and away she went. The Animal Emergency and Referral center was clear from the very beginning, they gave us concise options, explained the costs associated with the surgery (our cat had eaten a shoelace, and had a linear bowel obstruction) If he hadn't of been taken to AERC he would not be alive, I wouldn't have my baby to snuggle up with every day, I am so grateful for Dr. Rausch, the staff at the St Paul hospital (for the surgery and immediate emergency care) and the Oakdale staff for the after care, patience and dealing with my crazy cat-lady panic, they let me come in and try to feed my cat, deferred to me with any and all decisions, and truly made me feel like the most important patient in the world. Yes, it was expensive (OK, very expensive) as all emergency vets and regular vets are... but priceless is the care and attention they provide for the animals that come in... most importantly they saved my cat, and I will be forever grateful.

The doors should be closed at this clinic. When I saw our pet laying on the cold floor in the examing room, and for what they charge, that did it for me. Please don't take your pet here.

December 14, 2011Most inhumane pet facility I have ever been too. The way the pets are treated is inhumane. The fees they charge are exhorbitant. I would not recommend this place to anybody.

Thank you so much to Doctor/Veterinarian Beth Ross. We had to bring in our 8 month old cockatiel Mena in because she was attacked by our kitten. Of course getting through the initial paperwork and financial responsibilities is challenging, however beyond that, the vet techs and Dr Ross were very caring, compassionate and honest. Because we were so distraught and concerned about our bird who was critically injured, they allowed us to sit with her for as long as needed, while she (Mena) was in the incubator getting oxygen and heat due to her trauma and shock. Mena ended up staying overnight and we took her home in the morning. I am happy to say that she is doing very well and is healing nicely. She is being given antibiotics and pain medicine for comfort. We are so grateful to everyone and even more grateful that our little Mena is alive and well!! Thank you again to the hospital staff and to Dr. Beth Ross.

I found my dear old kitty collapsed in great distress. I raced her to this clinic as she was crying pitifully. When I took her in they took her to a back room as I paced the floor for an hour certain that they were working to alleviate her discomfort. Finally someone came out and I asked how she was. The woman handed me a list of charges for over 1,200 dollars and said they only gave IV fluids and spent the rest of the time adding up the charges and wouldn't do anything else for her till i agreed to pay. Of course i signed for these exorbitant charges that were for some tests since there was no place else open at 8 pm. They said these tests wouldn't even tell us whether she had a stroke or not. For that they told me any further tests would run an additional 1,200 at the University clinic. They told me to go home and pick her up in the morning. Our dog, a Westie, almost 14 years, began experiencing severe breathing problems in the evening and was clearly distressed. She had a congested heart condition and her health was gradually deteriorating, but her condition suddenly took a turn for the worse that evening. I took her to Animal Emergency Clinic on University Avenue in St. Paul (she had been there before eight years earlier one Saturday evening after swallowing a sock, small stuffed teddy bear ornament, and part of a wooden arrow with rubber stopper when no one was looking). The clinic had a couple of patients already but the intake person was friendly and attentive, took us into a private examining room, and checked her vital signs. After 15 minutes she took the dog into their back room to give her oxygen and let her rest since her breathing was so labored. It was a long wait, from 9:30 pm to 11:30 pm, but I had no appointment while other people did, and I knew the dog was in good care. The intake person came in to t

I was visiting St. Paul and had to take my pug to the ER vet. This address popped up first and was close to my hotel, so we went there around 11 pm. The tech greeted me at the door and ushered us in. She took me immediately to an examine room, and after a quick history explained that Bogey, while in some distress, did not need immediate attention and the doctor would be in shortly. I won't even guess how long we waited, since I was so worried any amount of time would seem excessive. Once the doctor came in, I was very impressed with the doctor. She asked questions, listened to my response, and gave me options for treatment. I think what I appreciated most was that she talked through the value of each option. I never felt pressured to do more than necessary nor did I feel as if I was being brushed off. I was particularly impressed that the vet tech wrote the phone number of ERs in the next city I was traveling to and in my hometown, as well as care instructions for my dog.

I took my dog there at 5am in th morning because I thought she was suffering from Chocolate poisoning. I called before I came and talked with a very nice technician. When I arrive I had to complete paper work then my dog and I were left in a exam room for like 10-15 min. My dog was shaking and very anxioius and no one was coming in to help her. I went out into the hallway and no one was there. I called is anyone here no one showed up. I did not know how much longer it would be and since we were the only ones there the dr. should have been right there I should not have had to wait 20 min for a dr. I left and took my Dog to U of Minn vet clinic where she was treat immediately as soon as I was there. They took her back and then had my complete the paper work. She is fine now but no thank to the St. Paul Vet clinic.

my cat was out of food and i have given her some fish in oil and i called the pet hospital and the told me to take it away and give her some boilled chicken till i get some food for her
