I worked here for about nine months and found liars, under staffing, favoritism and management who abuse their authority and staff. This starts with the CNO John Jones on down to the floor supervisors. Management will tell blatant lies, use intimidation tactics and cover up for one another. When you report them to HR they will make up false evidence to have you fired. This place wants the most amount of work out of you while using the least amount of staff possible. In the end, patient care suffers and no one seems to care. Find a more suitable facility for you or your loved one because this one only caters to those they deem worthy.

I had my left leg amputated above the knee on Feb. 21, 2018 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis due to a staph infection. Then on March 6, 2018, 13 days later, I had open heart - quadruple bi-pass surgery. Now come The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis (TRISL) part of my life-changing story.

I was transfered to TRISL on March 16th - after my insurance company rejected the claim. The doctor from TRISL called my insurance company and conducted a peer-to-peer call, explaining that i had an amputation AND open heart surgery. I was approved. I spent two weeks at TRISL with a physical and an occupational therapist. Two sessions per day, morning and afternoon, a total of 4 or more hours per day.

I can't say enough about the quality of training, education and preparedness to function, with my heart restriction, to be at home. The physical therapist even taught me how to get in and out of my car! The occupational therapist discussed what changes would need to be made at home for my own safety, which even included kitchen skills.

The doctor who got my insurance approved, would not only visit me every day, but would stay to chat for a half-hour or more! We have been cooresponding some via email, and told me I'm thought of often. At the end of my stay, I sent both my therapist flowers with a personalized thank you, and my angel Doctor 18 long stem roses with a heart-felt note.

Today, I had my last fitting and run-thru for my new microprocessor prosthetic leg with an hydraulic knee. I'll be going back to TRISL for gait training. This time, I'm not sick nor recovering. I am so looking forward to see the staff, who I feel are friends.

I would recomend TRISL to anybody who wants to get back to living life as best as possible. Keep a positive attitude, listen and learn and follow their program for you and you'll make it.

I would be glad to field any questions one might have about The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis.

Family member was sent here for rehab care before and after a procedure. Health South PT /OT personel were great!
Patient rooms were dirty. Response time for call bell just being answered was about 15 min and for help getting up around 30 min.
Rang for pain meds twice no one ever came to give them after 40 min family member feel asleep.
No hot water in sinks in rooms.
Lots of stuff stored in hallways hard to get by.
Food was terrible.
Drs do not treat sick people so don't get sick while you are there.
Would not recommend if you needed in patient care!!!

Just visited my aunt, I was expecting the worse considering the reviews. I was surprised the facility was clean and the staff that I talked to were professional. Look back at the reviews and they were old. Now waiting to see them work there magic with rehab.

If I could rate this pig pen of a "rehabilitation center" any lower I would. This is nothing more than a glorified nursing home. I'm disgusted by the way they treated my sister. Like she was mentally disabled. She was in a terrible motorcycle accident and she needed extreme therapy. They promised they would be what she needed but definitely wasn't. I was there for 10 hours and seen a nurse 3 times, and one of those times I had to go search for one. She finally came in an hour and a half later. Now, let's talk about how filthy this place was. There were muck stains underneath every sanitizer station because it wasn't cleaned properly. Dirt had literally stuck to the drying sanitizer that was dropped on the floor. Gross. Next, the food. I have no words to explain the food in this place. No words. She was apparently given sweet and sour pork but looked like mashed potatoes with packaged duck sauce that you get from Chinese takeout just poured on top. I won't even try to describe the "corn puree." it was putrid.

Now, I have to add, the therapists were good, when they didn't have an excuse for being late. They worked hard when they seen a reason too so that's great. Mad props.

All in all, this is by far the absolute worst rehabilitation center I have ever experienced. I would rather just let myself go than be there at that hell hole.

My husband had been in a car wreck. We thought they were great! They made him get up for OTand PT. Taught us both things we needed to know. They set goals for him. They never pushed him pass what he thought he could that day. But they were very good to him. Welcomed visitors, even kids. Were always nice to us. He got out in 10 days dsys instead of 2-4 wks. Even had a week end pass. Now home. Which is great! He is not getting the same thing he had there, with home visits. As much as I and him wanted to be home. Don't rush it. They need that to make them stronger and ready to be home. Rehab at home is not the same push to get stronger or better. Thank you for showing us what we needed and the little things we would have never thought of once home. I give them a 4 star rating. Food was ok.
