I highly recommend Spotlight P...

I highly recommend Spotlight Pet Services. Steve, the owner, is truly an artist when it comes to dog grooming. I take my golden retriever and my goldendoodle to Spotlight and I am always very pleased with the quality of the grooming, the customer service, and the way Steve and his staff treat my dogs. It's obvious they really love dogs, which is reassuring to a pet owner. Steve is extremely knowledgeable about grooming and about dogs in general, and he always goes out of his way to make sure I am satisfied with how the dogs look when I pick them up. My goldendoodle often receives compliments about his appearance from other dog owners and inquiries regarding who grooms him. My dogs definitely enjoy going to Spotlight, and it's a real bargain since they get to play with other dogs all day, in addition to having their nails and hair done. You will be happy you went to Spotlight. I highly recommend Steve and his staff.

We have been taking our 3 year...

We have been taking our 3 year old bloodhound here since he was a tiny puppy and the staff has been absolutely wonderful. The doggie socialization has been very helpful and we have have never had any problems with Salvador when we introduce him to new dogs. Salvador's litter mate, Daisy, also goes here and it is so nice to have them play together and learn to be with new dogs. If there is an issue, I completely trust the owner and the staff, and they have been nothing but honest with me and they made it right. They know how to handle dogs. Also they do a great job on all my dogs' baths, etc.

We've had nothing but wonderfu...

We've had nothing but wonderful experiences at Spotlight. We always take our two small dogs (under 10lbs) for their cuts and also do the doggie socialization. We like the flexibility that Spotlight has- we can drop our dogs off at 8am and pick up anytime after we receive the call that they're finished... all the way until 6pm. We've never had an issue and they staff is always very accommodating when I get picky about my dogs haircuts. I also like that they take the dogs out for potty breaks, unlike Petsmart.

Reasonable prices, friendly staff that knows what they're doing, and an owner that cares about the community.

Friendly Staff and Great Service

My boxer LOVES going to Spotlight. He gets groomed and has a chance to play with other dogs, which he really enjoys because he doesn't have any doggie playmates at home. I am always happy and satisfied with the service. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. They always remember my dog when I call to schedule an appointment. I would definitely recommend Spotlight if you're looking for a professional and friendly grooming experience.

Owner of Spotlight Pet Services responds to Carol's review

I cannot tell you how sorry I am that Nitro has passed. His death was an unfortunate and unforseeable accident. I am sorry to say, however, that Carol may be coloring the incident with the officer's dog. Blue, the beagle in question, got in a tussel with a larger dog and got a single puncture wound on his forechest. We cleaned the wound, told the owner, and told him that if he noticed any swelling, discharge, or anything out of the ordinary that he should send Blue to the vet and send us the bill. Two days later, Officer Walsh noticed that Blue was lethargic and took him to the emergency vet. They put drains for his infection in his pectoral muscle and kept him overnight for observation. The bill was $420. If Officer Walsh had kept Blue in the hospital for an extended stay, I would think that he would have sent me that bill, and that it certainly would have been more than $420. I thanked Officer Walsh for his understanding and grace regarding the incident, and he said that he understood that sometimes (and unfortunately) dogs will be dogs.

With regards to any other incidents, and in the interest of full disclosure, there have been 5 instances (including Nitro) of pets needing medical attention in my 14 years of Doggie Socialization. This time frame reflects 15,000-20,000 dogs and puppies of all breeds, ages, and sizes.

Very many people look to Spotlight Pet Services Doggie Socialization as an invaluable service. As there is an inherent risk in anything we do on a day to day basis, of course there is a risk in Doggie Socialization. We do not require that you participate in the service. If you have participated before and would not like to any longer, we will respect your decision. If you have concerns about our policies and procedures, please feel free to contact me anytime @ 314.352.3846 or at my e-mail

steve@spotlightpetservices.com. But please, please, please do not let fear of confrontation keep you from inquiring, as I have nothing to hide and will gladly field any and all questions.

Again, to Carol, her family, her friends, and to all friends of Spotlight Pet Services, I express my humblest and most sincere regrets at this unfortunate event. Please know that our thoughts are with you, and that the spirit of Dear Nitro will live on here forever.

Most sincerely,

DOG KILLED AT SPOTLIGHT GROOMERS

I would NEVER take my pet to Spotlight for grooming. My 6 lb long hair chihuahua was killed by large dog while she was in their care. After talking about this tragedy with other people, it was brought to my attention that a similar experience occurred two years ago with a Lieutenant in the SLMPD, luckily his dog survived after spending extensive time in the animal hospital.

If these are 2 incidents that I know of...then how many others are there that we don't know about?

Do your homework, I wish I would have been able to read a review like this one before going there with my beloved pet.

Great Service!!

I have taken my dogs, a Lab, and a German Shepherd to this groomer for some time. I am very happy how they look when I pick them up and they do a great job and have good prices. I would not hesitate to refer anyone to them.
