I was recently hospitalized for three nights for a kidney infection. Dr. Raphael Schein was the hospitalist assigned to me for a couple of those days. Most significantly, he was my discharging doctor. During a visit the evening before my discharge, the doctor said he’d be back in the morning for a simple sign-off and release. When pressed, he specified between 9 and 10 am. After having to be physically tracked down by my nurse and one other person and sent to my room, the doctor, unapologetically, entered my room - at approximately 2:30 in the afternoon. He spent easily less than one minute there and left. If it weren’t for the fact that Dr. Schein has the demeanor of a eunuch, you’d think he was on a power trip for some ungod known reason.
