Kingsbury Animal Hospital was established in 1978 when Dr. Brammeier turned an abandoned Shell service station into his companion animal practice. Since then the doctors and staff of Kingsbury have provided veterinary and grooming services to the pets of the city of St. Louis and surrounding communities. With the help of architect Tom Cohen, Dr. Brammeier realized his professional dream of practicing in a purpose built, state of the art facility, when a new building was completed in 2004. The new facility was designed for efficiency in delivering veterinary medical services, but also creating a pleasant space for both the patients and their owners. We offer a unique, sensitive approach to pet health care. We take the time to listen carefully to our clients, and then make sure we are not moving too fast with the pets to avoid frightening them, or pushing them beyond their limits. We mostly work on the floor. When we do use an exam table, it is covered in a synthetic sheep skin mat. The flooring in the building is a sheet rubber for better footing, especially for our geriatric patients. Dr. Brammeier has completed three intensive courses in Applied Clinical Behavior with the North American Post-Graduate Institute. We welcome questions about our approach to veterinary medical care. Please send us an email, or come by for a visit and tour of our building. We always enjoy meeting new people and the pets that share their lives.

The best in St. Louis!!! I have been luck enough to find this place 4 years ago after having less than great experiences at a few other offices and could not be happier with their care. I have two cats and two dogs so having a place that I trust is important.

One of the best vet clinics in St. Louis

Simply put, I have a petting zoo--dogs, cats and a guinea pig. Simply put again, I adore them all. With all of them, I need a veterinarian who can work with me on scheduling and cost and still talk to me like I'm a human being. A clinic that provides as stress less an environment for my cats that are already whigged out from a car ride. I need technicians who aren't afraid to show me how to do things and will even let me help a little (I don't mind being the bad guy). I need receptionists who recognize me and see me as a valued pet owner, not just a valued customer. I also need a place that will recognize occasionally I need something just a little different than what they offer and will support my decision to seek care elsewhere. Heck, they even call to make sure everything is okay! This is why I choose KAH.

I completely disagree with the low ratings for Kingsbury Animal Hospital. I will also preface my review by saying that both my mother and sister are veterinarians, so I have had a lot of exposure to veterinary practice over my life. I adopted my dog, Alice, just over a year ago from a local shelter. A few weeks after we brought her home, we started recognizing signs of separation anxiety. When Alice was at her worst, she chewed completely through her crate and injured her face. We came to see Dr. Brammeier for an initial behavior consultation for his assessment, diagnosis, and recommendations. He had a Behaviorist attend the meeting as well. Dr. Brammeier was thorough and explained everything in a detailed, calm, and respectful way. I could see that he understood the stress my husband and I were going through in learning how to deal with Alice's condition. I have worked with a few folks as I figured out how to manage Alice's anxiety. Unlike some other professionals, Dr. Brammeier and his staff did not sugar coat or make false promises. They were supportive and informative. I was so impressed with this first meeting that I started bringing Alice for her regular veterinary appointments as well. With a lot of hard work and persistence, we have had a lot of success with Alice over the past year with help from KAH. I now also bring my new dog, Billie Jean, to KAH for her regular check ups. We last saw Dr. Shaw - he was kind, thorough, and attentive. I highly recommend Dr. Brammeier's office for veterinary care and especially for help managing your pet's behavioral issues.
