I recently built a new home and the appraisal that I got from James D. Shea the 3rd. during the loan approval process was off by $425,000 to the actual cost to build my home. I wish this appraiser would get into the home building business because if he could build a $1,050,000 home for $625,000... He would have been the the lowest bid by far! The appraisal was so far off, he would have been better off giving a 2 year old a box of crayons to write down some numbers! The reason that I am so mad... is this low & unreasonable appraisal put me under so much stress during the building process and it forced me to come up with the money out of pocket during the construction process rather than having the ability to have it in the construction loan.
