This place is a nightmare; I have never had a worse experience at any place of business in my entire life. I called ahead of time to see if I could come in at 4:30 pm on a Friday. The receptionist said yes. I arrived at the agreed upon time. The receptionist gave me an ugily look from the second I walked in. By about 5:15 pm, I approached the front desk again to find out why I hadn’t been seen yet. She said that the next shift doesn’t begin until 5:30 pm. I asked her why she said that I could come in at 4:30 if the shift doesn’t begin until 5:30 pm. She replied that technically I was able to come in at 4:30 pm. Then, for the next 20 minutes, five people who were scheduled to get helped after me were taken ahead of me. Cooincidentally, I happened to be the only white person in the whole place. I live in an all black neighborhood and I have never felt discriminated against before in my life. I approached the front again. One of the teachers said that she noticed that I had been waiting for far too long. After 1.5 hours, I was finally seated with a student. I chose to get my hair colored brown with a hint of red. I also wanted some blonde highlights on top. They came back and said that they didn’t have that shade. They had me choose again. I chose a similar color. They didn’t come back and say that that shade wasn’t available, so I assumed that would be the color that went on my hair. The student was nice and seemed to be doing ok with the technique on my hair. Once my color was applied, I was put under the hairdryer. The hair dye started to run inside my ear and all over my sweatshirt. Finally, the hair dye was washed out to reveal that my hair was totally orange. One of the instructors later accidentally revealed that they could have served me better if they would have had toner and the color brown. They never had the color brown, so they just put red on my hair. I literally had a carrot top. I asked for my money back. They said that they don’t give refunds. I said that it wasn’t a question of the student’s technique. The instructor, knowing full well that they didn’t have the color I wanted, chose to put a totally different color on my hair. Due to this fact, there was no way that my hair would look good.I should have figured out how shady this place was due to their requirement of paying in advance. One of the instructors left a note for the owner about what happened. The next day, I called the owner. She never received the note (not surprised). She said that she would have to check into the situation and wouldn’t see one of the instructors until Tuesday. This response basically means “I don’t give e damn”! If it were my business, I would pick up the phone and call my employee about the situation. After five total hours of being there, I endured being treated like crap, having a ruined t-shirt, waisting $50, and having my hair completely messed up. If I had not been of the calm and reasonable type, they would have had to call 911 because people would be going crazy! Luckily, I was able to make my hair look somewhat normal. I used the anit-red additive and colored my hair light ash brown. Maybe I could pay them a visit and teach them how to do hair.
