am very unsatisfied with the quality of the product I purchased and the time it took Courtneys to resolve the issue. I have had about 10 visits from Courtneys technicians to repair my unit. I get errors on the thermostat and occasionally the air shuts off completely and must be reset in the basement. After about the 10th visit, Lennox finnally did replace the unit completely. I am not sure if the problem will re-appear, it usually takes approximate 7 days for the issue to show up. In the past they had replaced the evaporator coil, some type of motor. The first three visits of the problem, Courtneys just reset the unit and said they adjusted the charge and that nothing was wrong.

I feel that this unit may be new to them and they dont fully understand it.

The main problem I have with Courtneys and its ownership is this: In the contract it states that you can return the unit at anytime within a year for a full/complete refund. After about the 8th visit, I did try to do this, I was told it would take 45 days to get a refund. It's hot out and I need to keep my family and child cool, so of course, I would need the funds right away to get a new unit installed, I ended up being forced to stay with this system due to the lack of care by Phil Courtney. Phil Courtney's excuse for this was "I have to wait for Lennox to refund me, before I can refund you." Pretty odd excuse in my opinion, so when signing a contract with courtneys, you may want to get refund terms set up front.

I asked for a partial refund due to the constant inconvenience, and they refused to do this as well, stating that they had to pay for a technician to come to my home and fix it. Honestly, thats not my problem.

Side note: Paul, the sales engineer was great, and Tiffany the dispatcher was easy to work with.

I posted this review and decided to edit it. It is now Feb 2014, My heat pump has not functioned all winter, even in mild temps, I am always in emergency heat. I tried to invoke the no lemon guarentee on my propsal: "NO LEMON GUARENTEE: If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the equipment we installed. (from the date of install up to one year) we will remove equipment and give you your money back in full). They now refuse to come and remove the equipment.

On April 16, 2013 Courtney’s Heating & Cooling installed the new Lennox heat pump, evaporator coil, and gas forced air furnace at Garry’s home. Between May 18, 2013 and June 13, 2013 Garry had reported several intermittent problems with his system not functioning properly. Each time Garry called, Courtney’s Heating & Cooling responded promptly and sent a technician out to get the system back running properly. Garry was never without cooling for any extended period of time. On June 19, 2013 Garry called and spoke with Phil Courtney, the owner of Courtney’s Heating & Cooling, and said the system locked out again. He was very upset and wanted his money back. Since this unit continued to have these lockout issues, Phil Courtney contacted Jim, a Lennox factory representative, and was given authorization to replace the heat pump and evaporator coil. Phil Courtney contacted Garry and Garry agreed to let us install the new equipment. On June 25, 2013 Courtney’s Heating & Cooling installed a new heat pump and evaporator coil. The new system was operating properly and Courtney’s Heating & Cooling was never notified by Garry of any further problems. We were not contacted again by Garry until February 7, 2014. He called and said he wanted to schedule for the system to be removed and get his money back. Tiffany, our service coordinator, asked him what type of problem he was experiencing and he stated that his heat pump was not working. Tiffany explained that due to the current temperature of 13° his heat pump would not operate. Tiffany explained to Garry that the heat pump system is designed to run and operate down to temperatures of 35-40° and when temperatures lower than this occurred the system would switch over to emergency heat, which is his gas furnace. Tiffany then explained that this has been an unusually cold winter and most days have been below freezing, so during this very cold winter the heat pump may not run too often. Garry then stated that the heat pump has not operated all winter. Tiffany asked Garry why he had not contacted us to come out to check it out and he said he had another company out to his home and they said the heat pump was not working. Tiffany explained to Garry that if another company works on the system it voids our warranties that he has with us because we cannot guarantee the quality of workmanship that another company may provide. Garry became very angry and stated that if we did not give him his money back he would contact a lawyer and hung up. Also to address the "No Lemon Guarantee" on the contract. The "No Lemon Guarantee" requires there to be a problem with the system. We have to be given the opportunity to have the manufacture inspect the system to show that there is a problem. With this being said, our resolution would be to let the Lennox representative come out to inspect the system and If there is a problem then we can address the refund on that piece of equipment that is having the problem. In conclusion, Courtney’s Heating & Cooling feels that we responded promptly to each of Garry’s calls and made sure he was never without cooling for any significant amount of time. Also, we replaced the heat pump due to the problems that had occurred in the beginning with the original unit. Until his call in February to demand his money back we were never notified of any issues with the heat pump this winter. It is hard to believe that Garry has been without heat the entire winter especially with these frigid temperatures we have been having in St. Louis and if Garry had been without heat all winter he would have contacted us before now. We also feel that since another company had been working on the system they could have compromised the system and this is not something we can be held accountable for.

This company was one of two recommended by my condo association. I was initially quite pleased with them, mostly due to Paul their engineer who was professional and courteous. However, after I had purchased my AC with them in 2008 and started doing my yearly checkup with them, I became less and less impress by them, mostly due to one of their office staff (Holly) and some of their technicians.

In previous years, I had technicians show up and I was uncomfortable with them. Even though they wear uniforms with their name on it, I'm a woman and before I want to let someone in my home, I expect them to introduce themselves. It's not too much to ask for "hi, I'm Bill from Courtney's Heating and Cooling and I'm here for your AC tune up" (for example). St. Louis is not a big city, but this day and age, I don't know you and anyone can grab some tools and pretend to be a worker.

This year, I called for my tune up and I was given a appointment two weeks later. Not only that, my appointment time was between 8-12. I am a nurse and I worked last night, so I ended up skipping sleep to wait for them. They typically gives you a call before sending the technician over (not for the customer's benefit, but to make sure you are home so that the technician won't have to come out there and have no one at the house). I have choppy cell phone reception, so when they called, it went right to the voicemail. Unfortunately when I called them back, I talked to Holly. Instead of telling me that they will go ahead and send the technician my way when they are available, she was argumentative and rude. She basically told me that it was my fault that I didn't pick up my phone so they had sent the technician elsewhere without offering me anything. When I asked to speak to the manager, she pretended like she didn't hear my request and continues to cut me off to tell me that's how that's their protocol and how they do business. It got to the point where I basically had to say "I've waited 3 hours, please just make sure the technician can get to my place and I don't really want to talk to her any more. I called back a few minutes later (luckily I got someone else) and asked to speak to their owner, but was told that he is not available. It wasn't until I called back a third time (and got a different person) before someone actually listened to the customer's complaint and apologized for Holly and assured me that they will be sending a technician my way as soon as possible.

Maybe I have high standards, but one shouldn't have to settle for crappy services.

We apologize that you had this experience with us. We do not encounter many issues with our customer service so therefore we do remember this situation. The person you spoke with was not Holly. It was actually another receptionist that is no longer with Courtney's. We do make every effort to make sure that are clients are home prior to arrival to avoid arriving and the client not being home. We have made a note in our system that your cell phone reception is sometimes choppy, so that going forward we know to send the technician if we do not get an answer. We are glad that you have continued to use Courtney's for your heating & cooling needs after this experience. We will make every effort to ensure that your future calls to our company our a pleasant experience.

I had Courtney's out at my hom...

I had Courtney's out at my home the other day. The moment I called, the office staff was very friendly, they were quick to call me back and get me on the schedule the same day I called. When the service technician arrived he was also very friendly. He was very thorough & knowledgable when working on my furnace. He explained and showed me what the problem was and what needed to be done. The repair price was very reasonable. I will recommend Courtney's to my friends and family from now on.
