We were pleasantly surprised with our experience with The Charcoal House. After reading the reviews, we had low-mid expectations. But since we live in Rock Hill, we wanted to support local restaurants. When you walk in, it smells great- of char broiled steaks and there is a low level of talking. The decor is a bit dated. But don't look into that too much. We were seated immediately and the server went over the whole menu. She ordered the Filet and I ordered the Ribeye. The meal came with a salad, she had the Cesar and I had the spinach. After our first glass of Cab, we started to get that intimate steakhouse vibe. When I entrees came, they were sizzling. Perfectly cooked to order. We will be back here for sure!

Poor value for the money

The food was acceptable, nothing extraordinary. Seating was horrible - the restaurant had 3 tables of customers and they packed us all in to one small section. A small glass of soda costs 2.50 for each refill Our bill was over 250.00 for 3 people. Waste of money. I will not be returning.

Overpriced and Old

I've read all the previous reviews, and can't understand how the people came up with their reviews of this restaurant. The decor is extremely outdated, the steak was excellent but extremely small for the price. The price did not even include a dinner salad. My twice-baked was horrid -- cold and starchy. The only reason I can think of as to why this restaurant had quite a few diners in it was because they all seemed older, and it was their regular hangout. It was my first time there, and my last.
