trying to cook a low country boil in Missouri can be a little challenging....
I went to Bob's at a friend's recommendation. Not only did they have a great selection of crab and shrimp, but they also had boudin!!!! Pricey, but totally worth it. I will be back.

After searching various sites to try and find a fresh seafood market in St Louis, this was the place that came up the most and had the most positive reviews, so I was all excited to go this past Saturday. The staff was very nice and they were helpful enough, but...I was disappointed in several ways....The selection was extremely limited. They had the same things that you'll find at Schnucks and Dierbergs like trout, catfish, tuna, salmon, shrimp, scallops and lobster...then they had 5 or 6 other fishes plus some frozen selections, and that was about it. Because Bob's is listed as seafood wholesaler, I expected prices to be reasonable, but I thought the prices were crazy high. For example, I can buy fresh Tuna steaks at my local grocery store for $10 to $12 a pound...They were $23/pound at Bobs as were sea bass, red snapper and halibut....all over $22 per pound.

I'm sure many would say that is the going rate, but it seemed high to me. I do have to say the quality and freshness was good. Since I have yet to find a better place in St Louis, I would have to say if you want fresh seafood and don't mind paying high prices for it, you might find what you are looking for at Bob's. For people to rate this place as "exceptional" surprises me....I don't think there was anything exceptional about it.

you will not find a better place for fresh seafood. The prices are always good, the seafood is always fresh, and if u don't find what your looking for they will do their best to find it. You can always special order and they will have it waiting for you. The staff is knowledgeable, especially barb, and they will always do their best to make sure you leave happy. Once you go to Bob's you will never buy seafood from anywhere else again.
