Hiring A&B is the worst decision we have ever made...by far. After calling around and getting 2 other estimates to refinish our 60's oak hardwood floors A&B was the cheapest...now we know why. About 1700sf of our 1900sf rancher is original oak hardwood that had an aging satin finish and a dated yellowish color. We decided we wanted a darker richer color and landed on Minwax Dark walnut. Well, I thought that as a pro-am home diy'er I could handle re-finishing the house a couple rooms at a time. WRONG! After a couple full 8 hour days of sanding and putting waaaay too much stain on the floor in one room we decided to call in the pros. Like I said, A&B was the cheapest and Chad came out and was a really nice, likable guy. We were going out of town in a couple weeks, which is recommended when having an entire house worth of hardwood floors re-done, so the timing seemed perfect. When Chad came out for the estimate he measured, we chatted it up, and discussed the details. I told him that the Minwax Dark Walnut that was on the floors in a couple rooms was the color we wanted. He said, ok great. Then he proceeded to explain that, "You guys put it on a little thick here, so we'll sand it off and re-apply, and it won't be quite this dark." Then, he pointed to a couple spots on the floor and said, "it'll be more like this color."-exactly what we wanted. I said great, sounds good. He left, we got the estimate a couple days after he said he'd have it to us by. I called back, knocked a couple hundred bucks off, and said let's move forward. We recruited some friends, moved out of the entire house, almost. We left for a week to Mexico. We returned to a home with freshly sanded, stained and satin polyurethane sealed oak floors...THAT WERE THE EXACT SAME COLOR AS BEFORE!! What?! At first we honestly thought that they just screen sanded, or something and re-applied poly on top and were trying to pull a fast one on us. Turns out they didn't. They actually sanded the entire house, supposedly applied the dark walnut (that we applied 2 weeks before, so we do know what it looks like), sealed it and were coming back for one more coat the next day. We were so upset, it was unbelievable. Well, Chad was out of town apparently, but the installer would be back the next day to put the last coat of poly down. We stayed in a hotel that night, since we couldn't step on the floors really. When I met the installer the next day, I couldn't help but notice that he was in an unmarked van. -- I am a project manager for a commercial construction company -- One of the last questions I asked Chad when he left the initial estimate was: "Do you guys use subcontractors, or will the guys working here be A&B employees?" His response was, "Oh no, Jose will be here. He's like family. He's been with us for about 15 years." I spoke with Jose. Twice. For a total of about 2 hours at my house. I conversationally pulled out of him that A) He is NOT an A&B employee-he owns his own company, but does a lot of work for A&B. B) He had a helper with him, who was basically some other random, non-A&B employee, and MOST OF ALL C) He called Chad mid-project and said, "Hey, are you sure they don't want this on any darker?" to which Chad said no, that's what they want. ...really?! All in all, it was an absolute horrible experience. Totally wrong shade. Had tons of swirlmarks all over the middle of the floor, from the sander. (Which they did send Jose back out to try to remedy-but when he got there he just tried to talk me out of it, with much poorer english than our first conversation-stating that it would only make the floor worse and that he would have to re-do basically the whole house again to fix a few spots. And Chad promised me that they would provide us with a Bona cleaning kit. We never got the kit. I called and left 3 messages for Chad to get us the kit, but once they got paid in full...zero communication.

Uh NO

I called and asked if they did free in home estimates and this was his answer "uh, yea" and I asked if there were any appointments available for Monday "uh, no" that's not a way to talk to potential customers. I will never call them back ever again.

They installed my floors and they are all quite curtious and polite. The job they did is excellent. I am so happy with my wood floors. I got both raw 3/4" oak in my livingroom, dinning room and kitchen then I got prefinished in my office and front bedroom and Cherry in my master bedroom. Not only were the prices reasonable but the floors are beautiful. All I can say is thank you A& B Flooring for the wonderful job you did in my house. I know it has increased the value of my home quite a bit. So again Thank you.

Great Work

After a fish tank leak on our family room floor we had A & B come out to remove and replace our hard wood floors. They did an excellent job, making little mess and finishing the job extremely quickly!
