Unethical and Corrupt

Taxpayers of a West Feliciana Parish need to be informed.

The only reason I gave this review 1 star is because there isn't a 0-star option. The first reviewer is correct: This facility is extremely political. If you have an opinion, if you don't agree with upper management, you are either fired or the administration threatens your retirement and forces you to resign. Favoritism runs rampant and positions are created for the people that are favored by upper management. For example: Chief Medical Officer making $50,000/month, works 2 days/week, when there is NO position of CMO in West Feliciana Parish Hospital by laws. Another example: a new graduate RN with less than 1 year experience was promoted to Infection Control, Employee Health, & IT Nurse without posting the positions and without anyone else being allowed an opportunity to apply. She receives extra pay for each role and makes more money than our veteran nurses with higher educational levels. Yet another example: The position of Compliance Officer was given to a respiratory therapist. No application, just given. And the policy clearly states that the position of Compliance Officer must be an RN with at least 2 years clinical experience. Another: Human Resources position was taken from a veteran employee and GIVEN to Kevin Mulligan, a Blue Cross Representative. Kevin Mulligan continues to contact with Blue Cross while he is being paid by the hospital for his newly acquired position of Human Resources. Conflict of interest.

There is an enormous amount of racial discrimination occurring inside the walls of this hospital. I'm Caucasian and can see other races being discriminated against. Our facility has been without a Director of Nurses for over 6 months. The qualified nurse (African American) with a Master's Degree, a current employee with 15 years+, was turned down the position and given interim until a "more qualified" applicant applied for the job. The new DON (Caucasian) started 3 days ago.

Nurses have been working severely understaffed for months. And the administration will not pay overtime. The current administrator, Lee Chastant, is former CEO of Stanacola hospital in Baton Rouge and bankrupted that facility. Now he's at West Feliciana Parish Hospital, moving our money around, and (with the assistance of Anthony Shields CMO) is currently cleaning house of employees who are not "loyal" to their dirty ways. Our rural hospital won't be standing much longer if the current administration, Lee Chastant and Anthony Shields CMO, continue to put their hands in hospital funds.

There is no fairness or equality at West Feliciana Parish Hospital, no room for advancement. There is no accountability held or disciplinary action for any of the favorites. All of the above, and much more including fraud, has already been reported to the Hospital Board. But, the Chairman of the Board, Leonard Sullivan, is just as crooked and corrupt as the current CEO and CMO.

Who is currently caring for the patients in our community while the full time nurses have been suspended without explanation? Agency nurses. Nurses not from our community. Nurses that don't know you or your family and don't care to know. They're collecting a check and moving on to the next facility.

If you want quality care for you and your loved ones, this is no longer the place to go. For applicants: if you care about the license you worked so hard to achieve, don't bother applying. And if you do accept a job there, make sure you have a good attorney.
