Best fried shrimp ever! Word of caution: Bring cash and be prepared to wait. O'steen's accepts neither credit cards nor reservations.

I lived in Jacksonville for fourteen years from the mid-sixties to the late-seventies and O'Steens became my restaurant of choice for fried shrimp. They simply are beyond compare. I moved away in 1979 but remain a frequent visitor to the Jacksonville area for the past 30 years and no visit is ever complete without at least one visit to O'Steens for friend shrimp. When I eat fried shrimp anywhere else, the top of my comparison scale is O'Steen's. I have never found another restaurant that came even close ! Worth the wait in the heat - go as early as you can. Don't miss it.

There fried shrimp can not be beaten by in resturant in the South. I have eaten there for years and the only bad thing about the place is that it is small and the wait is long. The price is very resonable. If you are ever in Saint Augustine try it out , you will be glad you did.

Osteen's Chicken and Dumplings are incredible! Also, their sweet potato casserole! Good family restaraunt. The down side is that you have to wait in line outside in the heat for long periods of time to be seated. I recommend carry out. It's quick and easy, and very good!
